Is 21 too old to be in residence?

Well, currently I'm in my second year at the University of Guelph, but I'm coming to the realization that university really isn't for me. I'm studying Biology, and don't like it at all. So, over the past year or so I've really been thinking hard about what I want to do.

I've always thought I would like to join the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police), and lately I've decided that I'm probably going to drop out of university and apply for Police Foundations at a college.

The only thing is that I'll be 21 when I switch schools, and I'd like to do rez again. A second year of rez would be awesome. It would help me get all the partying out of my system and I could get rid of any regrets that I have from my first year of rez. It would also give me a chance to meet new people, and would make it a lot easier to find a house for my second year. I think it would be a little weird being 21 while everone else is 18.

I suppose they don't need to know my age, and I could pass for 19.

I know there are some people here that went to school at an older age, but I don't think they stayed in rez.

Residence = dorms?

I'd recommend finishing your degree, even if you change majors. It's easier to do now than it is to do later.

ya, dorms.

edit: I should add that I did pretty bad my first year in university and pretty much fucked up my grades. I'm currently on academic probation.

Also you can buy booze for everyone that isn't so you will be well liked.

Well 19 is legal in Ontario. But most people are still only 18.

I'm turning 21 in a month and I live on campus right now. In fact, my school has specific 21+ dorms, so yea, it's definitely not unheard of!

There are a lot of older students here. I've met people who are two or three years older than I am who are in the same grade (last year there was a freshman who was 21 - but he was Singaporean, and delayed college because of mandatory army commitment).

wow if you think the best parties are in a dorm, you are doing it wrong.

Are you talking something like LAN parties or drinking parties though?

If the former then the dorms are the place to be.

You will be the beer man. They will come to you and be willing to do incredible things if you get them beer. Take this knowledge, exploit it, and profit.

Guelph is in Ontario. 21 means nothing there.

OP - No, it's not weird from an American perspective. Lots of students spend all four years in residence.

Most guys I knew at McGill only lived in res for one year, but I'm sure there will be a few others like you.

I'll be 21 and on campus next semester. On campus apartments though.

Just as long as you have a dorm room to your self. That way you won't be the creepy older guy roommate.

j/k :D

Seriously, make it into the primo bachelor pad! Just check out "Otter's" room in Animal House (albeit, it was a frat house and not a dorm).

My school doesn't have the 21+ specific dorms (alcohol isn't allowed anywhere on campus ;) lol), but I'm in the same boat. I know a couple of 22 year olds too. Nothing bad about it at all.

You're in college. I'm friends with people 2 years younger than me. Age matters less than maturity.

I had a double room all to myself in the freshman dorm when I was 24/25. I set up a king-sized bed in it. It took up 3/4s of the room, but it was sex central with 18 y.o. freshman girls.

I don't see a problem with it. I'd live in the dorms even at 26 next year if I wasn't married.

Okay, so there was only one girl, but it was still fun.
