Is $20/hr = $40,000 a year?

Isn't that roughly right for working standard 40 hours a week?

I also heard that you should calcuate at 13 months, not 12 for some reason..

think 40 hour work weeks, and 50 weeks a year.

20x40x50 = 40,000

but why would you want such a poor paying job?

as a 16 year old, i was making 15 an hour. if iu did comp work for the guy i would have made 25 per hour, and had steady work. as it was, i was doing simple data entry.

$20/hr * 7 hours * 5 days * 52 weeks = $36400/year

Unless you're paid for 8 hours and don't get 1 hour of lunch (or your lunch is paid) in which case:
$20/hr * 8 hours *5 days * 52 weeks = $41600/year

Other figures in this thread have been pretty right on and yea you're pretty much right

but about 13 months instead of 12...? Don't know. guess it depends what you consider a month 😛

52/4 = 13 months in a year:Q
NOw that really weirds me out

i never thought about it that way... iiiinteresting...

hmmm... so your hourly wage x 2 x 1000 = salary!

February is the only true month (except for leap years), going on the Lunar system.

They did have 13 months, however changed it to 12 because 13 was considered unlucky.

Confused

7 hrs?! 😕

I thought everyone worked 9 hours one of which is lunch

Generally take hourly rate * 2000 (or 2060 if you want to get technical) to find annual salary.

If you cant do the math to figure that out, you deserve $3.50 an hour.

explain the 13 months.

4.345 weeks per month, not an even 4.

Some months have more/less weekdays than others, thus giving more/less working hours.

No kidding, me too. I'm sure there are millions of people that could do your 15 dollar an hour job better than you, so I'd be greatful and realize that not everyone is as fortunate.

Where I'm from $40k a year is pretty damn respectable too. Some people just have distorted views on what's a decent wage.

u kidding me? It's very nice right out of college with a Bachelor... I wouldn't say it's "damn respectable"

grateful and not go for better?

Eventually you'll learn that what you make isn't what makes you happy. For a lot of people 40k a year provides them with the luxuries they desire. Higher paying jobs usually are accompanied by more stress. A lot of people, myself included, would take a lower paying job that they were happy with over a higher paying job that they didn't really care to do.

Note what I said - IN MY AREA

Not every area in the country has an outrageously inlfated standard of living like the coasts and other more populated parts of the country.
