Is $20 a good sum for a bribe to be "taken care of"?

That was worded horribly, but I'm still half-asleep.

Okay.

If you go to a hotel and are interested in an upgrade (without paying sticker price)... how much is a good amount to slip to the clerk when asking if any suites/etc. are available? Has anyone done that before, and if so, how exactly do you do it (I'd imagine wrap the $20 around an ID or credit card or something while sliding it over the counter) and how did it work out?

You can always ask if there are any upgrades available. I'd say do it in a no-nonsense way and make it known that you're willing to pay a bit.

Depending on the situation, the hotel isn't "out" anything by switching you to an otherwise vacant room.

I'll be testing this out on Monday myself.

As for the "slipping somebody a $20", I have zero experience. It wouldn't seem the best thing to do at the hotel desk because of the cameras. The employee wouldn't likely feel kosher with taking a "bribe"

Ya, there are probably extensive cameras in most hotels that would have suites you would want to be in anyways.

this is known as the $20 trick, some say its a myth, some say it does or doesn't work, but I have personally saw it done once. the trick is just leave the $20 bill on the counter and ask for a FREE upgrade, if they give it to you, just leave the $20 on the counter and leave, if they dont give you any upgrade, just take the $20 with you and walk away.

I with isekii on this one. Judging from the last pic of you I saw, you'd have NO problem pulling it off ;).

I wouldn't try it, but I have heard that just giving gatekeepers a little souveniour bobble works wonders. Since it isn't a flat out bribe, they can't get in trouble, and it doesn't cost you much. But you are giving them something and that might make them feel like giving you something in return.

I wouldn't be able to do with my personality, unless I had had a few beers. :) :D

Heh. Give a clerk in Las Vegas a little souvenier bauble? ;) Who knows... it's worth a shot.

I'm tempted to try the $20 idea, but I don't want to offend anyone or get anyone in trouble.

And as an Asian female, I have no boobage to flash around, even if I wanted to. :p But thanks for the tips... I'll be sure to come back on the 4th with a full illustrated review of what happened. You guys are always helpful, thank you again... :)

If you're going to be staying a week or so then fold a fitty up and when you put your credit card on the counter put it under it with just the fitty sticking out and then ask if you can get an upgrade. Discreet yet you get your meaning across.

And forget about the cameras as you can tip anyone who helps you in Vegas, if you don't then you're an Ahole(not specifically you).

Have a good time.

Dezign i agree w/them. and i've seen u in real life.

OK. Here is how you do it. I assume u are trying to do this in Vegas?

When you present your ID and your credit card, fold the $20 between the two items. Then fan it out when you hand it to the person. and jsut ask "are there any room upgrades available?"

if yes, she will discreetly take the $20. if not, she'll return it w/your id and CC.

easy as that.

how do i know? I always used to do it when I was in Vegas. I stayed at Bally's alot, and every time, me nad my woman would get a suite upgrade or sometimes even the honeymoon suite (w/the crazy awesome hot tub!) I just would tell them sometimes that I was going to propose or that we were getting married....works as easy as that.

it feels like it takes a lot of guts, but it doesn't. you can't lose what you don't have. just ask and if you get it, that would be a huge bonus. if not, then you didn't lose anything.

i say that if you are staying for the weekend, $20 is good. if you are staying longer, maybe a ilttlem ore would be better. tipping always gets you places, especialy in Vegas. :)

It's a different show. Didn't get a call about Rocky yet, though I doubt one will come. Have yet to get my foot in the door there.
