It depends how much money you have for hookers and blow.
Actually, two days, two nights is enough. By the third day, you will look forward to getting home. All the gambling, boozing, smoking, sightseeing, whatever, sets in really quick.

Ive had many "the hangover" type weekends in Vegas. Two nights are plenty for debauchery. And the more $$ you have to blow the crazier times you can have.

debauchery sure, but to see everything, not so much...esp if you go back to shower every once in a while to get the yuck off you.

Yes, come here and throw your money at us. We laugh at all the idiots that come to throw their money away (that also happens to pay my salary).

Just went last Sunday and came back Wednesday. We had a blast, but by Tuesday night my wife and I were ready to head home.

As far as where to stay, you might want to look at one of the new 5 star hotels like Aria. They are pretty cheap.

My old boss used to have a schedule that he would give to people going to Vegas as much for the sights as well as for the cheaper attractions. It was a schedule that went from 8am until midnight, cost a grand total of about $100 per person, and included all sorts of attractions, free shows, cheap shows, etc. i.e. you've gotta see the fountains, etc.

Realize that it will be hot and you need plenty of water (not just liquids) to keep you going.

Arriving in August at night; it will be close to 100 and stepping out of the airport will be a blast furnance.

Any chance you have a copy of this?

I'm going to Vegas in about a month with my family for the first time. They want to look around at stuff, but my normal Vegas trip is : get the cheapest room then gamble, eat, gamble, maybe catch a show, lose more money until it's time to go home probably-which probably won't fly for this trip.

Unsure if all still are active - but this is some of what we used to use for visitors.

Free:
Fremont Street Experience (downtown - best at night)
Laser show - Sam's Town (evening best)
Aerial Gondola show - Rio (afternoon/evening)
Acrobatics - Rivera (PG & R) (evening)
Water Gondolas & music shows - Venetian
Gods show - Caesars (every couple hours)
Fountains - Bellagio - best at night
Tigers - Mirage
Lions - MGM
Pirate Show - Treasure Island

Low Cost:
Shark Reef - Mandalay Bay
Stratosphere Tower

Outside Town
Red Rock - Scenic
Hoover Dam (Pay & Free)
Valley of Fire/Grand Canyon North Rim
Laughlin - Colorado River
Parump - nearest legal brothels
Mt Charleston - Scenic
Lake Mead - Scenic & Marina

Some places will give you a free show if you sit through a sales presentation on time shares.

i'm staying at the bellagio this week. it's a nice room, but i'm not paying for the room. if i was, i wouldn't be staying here. the main thing i want to see is the pinball hall of fame, and perhaps penn & teller. otherwise it's just another city, although a little louder and brighter perhaps.

Definitely check out Zumanity. Beside that, check out Aria town center and ride on the coasters at New York.

For a non-gambler, that's about it (unless you want to explorer the darker parts of Vegas). 2 days = plenty.

vegas trips are measured by hours, not days

if you are doing it right, after one weekend you should be ready to curl up in your bed at home for a week to recover

I would say it depends on what you plan on doing, but for me ~2 days was plenty and I couldn't wait to go back home. If you just want to go get wasted and party and see a show two days is good in fact you don't wanna stay longer than that.

If you want to, I dunno, see more shows and eat at fancy places then maybe you want to stay a bit longer. I dunno about paying 1k more for the Bellagio.. The room might be nice but thats really it as you can go do everything else there without staying there. I dunno, the pool is probably nice but you should be able to sneak in by telling the guy a random room number.
