Is 1920x1080, on 15" laptop ok?

Hi all,

My concern is that since LCD/LED monitors on laptops run best in native resolution, whether it is a good decision to get a 15" laptop with 1920x1080 resolution?

I would not like to get a higher size. Is the size of letters on 15" screen ok to be read easily at full 1920x1080 resolution?

Thanks is advance!

It's fine if your eyes don't suck.

(If you have Win 7 you can scale up fonts without it looking like ass)

I have a Lenovo T510 with 1600 x 900. Text size is very readable and wholly adjustable. As has been pointed out, text size is adjustable by DPI without changing resolution, and Internet text size is menu adjustable beyond that. Having said that, I can imagine 1920 x 1080 can also be adjusted equally well.

With Windows 7, font scaling actually works well, so I wouldn't worry about it being too high res.

I was worried about that so I bought a 14" 1366x768 laptop... now I wish I had gone with a higher res because now I know Win 7 scales really well.

Thanks to all. Useful first hand knowledge. So I am going with 15" Sony VPCEB 26, with 1920x1080 resolution.

My work computer was a Dell Precision M-something-or-other with a 15" screen at 1920x1200 for a while. The text was way to freaking small for me and increasing the font size broke everything. This was with XP though, so 7 might be better.

I have a Clevo with a 1920x1200 15.4" screen and everything is too small for me unless I zoom. If I have to zoom everything, then why pay extra for the higher resolution screen?

Hmmm, anyone want to buy it?

AFAIK it is 1600x900, not 1920x1080.

Not readily available in the US, yet. Was for a short duration in the form of a signature collection: http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...specifications

My guess is it will be available for configuration soon (holiday season?)

Edit: 1 on ebay already up to $3700 with 8 days to go if one really wants one
Edit2: pcconnections has same exact specs for $3550 (in stock too) and another place has it with 256gb ssd (only, as opposed to 512gb) for $800 less

you may need to adjust the DPI settings of the operating system to use it long hours without getting blind... I'm using a 24" LCD with 1920x1200 on a daily basis and tried a notebook with 17" @ 1920x1200... on the default DPI settings the letters were way too small but around a 115% setting it became comfortable.
