Is 128k cache for a DVD-rom not enough?

I'm getting choppy dvd playback with this new Toshiba 16x dvd-rom and a ATI rage fury pro video card. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the Toshiba only having 128k cache compaired to others that have 512k cache? I'm using power dvd player 3.0. I've also tried using ATI's dvd software and it's the same problem. I also have a Duron 700 for my processor.

Yes, I do have DMA enabled. Power dvd does that for you after you install it. What it actually does is asks you if you want to enable it and warns you that older drives might not support DMA.

It's not the cache, I have the 12X version of the Toshiba here and it works great.

Hmm...I'm wondering if it's the ATI drivers?
ATI's drivers are know to be bad with the rage fury, rage fury pro series. I dunno, I'm just going to put in my new Kyro II soon and see how that is.

At least 450Mhz K3 with 128mb and a Rage Fury 32mb video using ATI DVD players when I tried others they weren't set up to use ATIs HW advantage.
