Is $104 for 1040EZ tax preperation too much?

I hope you got something else besides tax services for that $104. There's a website called Rip-off Report, so you can at least give other people a heads-up to avoid this person for tax services.

If you hire someone to file the 1040EZ form, you desrve to get taken for $104.

An EZ tax return takes 20 minutes in TaxCut. You could have done it during the commercials of your favorite TV show.

eh, my dad charges $75 for one W-2 and a tax return. It goes up from there. Though his prices he keeps at 60% of H&R Block, to remain competitive.

So, in respect to H&R Block, the OP didn't get hosed. My dad, however, does have special student rates and rates for children of long-standing clients where he charges $40 flat rate. So, if this was a private tax preparer, he definitely got hosed.

From a business point of view, you did not get hose. Yes, it is expensive for such an easy job. Did he/she do a good job?

From a personal point of view, you need to ask for estimate BEFORE you do business, plus 1040EZ is pretty easy. I can't see anyone take more than 30 minutes with pencil and calculator and the 1 page form.

I did taxes for others before and I usually charge around $50 cash for 1040EZ.
