I run at 85 and i can completly tell the difference form 65-85 though a lot of my friends can't, so i agree it is either your own sensativity to it, or your hardware :D

Strangely, none of my friends care that their monitors run at 60Hz (and it's quite a damn nice pleasure for me working on their computers ;) ). However, I can still see the flicker at 75Hz, so I go to 85Hz instead. Anything above that gives no noticable improvement for me, and it just makes the text slightly blurrier, so I don't set the refresh higher than 85Hz.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the fact that you can damage your monitor if you use a higher refresh than it supports for a long period of time. It may take a month or two, but your monitor will start messing up after awhile.

I can notice differences between 60-75, 75-85, and 85-100. At 100hz everything (picture/text) is a lot clearer to me than 85hz and so I use that one more (1024x768@32).

I can see slight flicker at 85Hz if I really stare in close at the screen. Right now I'm running at 105Hz.
