hey all, quick question i can't seem to find the answer to, is it safe to run the RAM @ 1.65v for a 5600k? i know for intel's i5 line 1.65v might damage the memory controller on the CPU, but can AMD's 5600k line handle that fine for 24/7 use? My RAM is rated @ 9-9-9-24 1600 @ 1.65v. Thanks in advance.:)

Generally, I think AMD CPUs (at least their "big cores") have no issues with 1.65v RAM.

I run my 1600MHz RAM @ 1.65v also. That is what it is specced at. Is that unsafe with a 3570K?

thanks guys! good to know!

twjr, yes its unsafe with the i5 line's memory controller. They're only rated to do 1.5v.

1.65v @ 1600MHz? That's some power hungry RAM...

maaaah.. depends on the timings..

if its 6-6-6-9 timings... id call that pretty OP without the requirement of 1.7v.

per intels' original spec, it was no greater then .5 vcore offset.
So if ur vcore is running 1.2 + .5 ~ no greater then 1.7 or you would risk damaging the memory controller.

However i dont think this applies to IB and Haswell.

Also some had problems booting up because ram required 1.67v, and default is 1.55
What one would need to do is load up 1.55 vcore ram... adjust voltage in bios, and then swap it out to get them to work.
