IRREPLACEABLE Software

What is some software that is irreplaceable? After all, there are plenty of AIM progs, media players, internet browsers, even operating systems. The challenge is...name a program that is one of a kind, completely irreplaceable (and don't say Photoshop, because honestly there are other progs that can do the same thing).
 
Things weren't always that way in the magical land of computers though, just goes to show how far the software industry has come dunnit?
 
So far I haven't found replacements for Total Annihilation, BitchX, Apache, vi, or eggdrop.
I do not necessarely believe that they are "Irreplaceable" however, I am yet to see anything close to resembling a replacement.
