Yet another post in the ongoing saga of my Radeon.
I took it over to my friend's apartment last night and hooked it up to his POS 450, don't know if it's a Celeron or a Pentium chip...Anyway, got a solid, stable 40 fps in UT, where my system leaps from 3 (yup, 3) to 70 fps, depending on what's happening.
I am running the game in 800X600 with the 436 patch, using the 7041 drivers for 98SE. I did a complete reformat/reinstall when I got the card.
I'm not looking for any other tweak suggestions (gotten a ton from people, and I thank them). My two possible solutions our that it's my sound card or my IRQs.
I think the Radeon is sharing IRQ 9 with my network card and my sound card. It looks that way in the boot-up screens. I am a complete idiot when it comes to the inner workings of computers. Could anyone tell me how exactly to fix the IRQs so they don't coflict? I am at work right now, but I am going to mess with it tonight.
Also, does it matter if they share in Win2k? My friend said that he didn't think it would, since Win2k is supposed to share IRQs, or something like that.
I am also going to remove the sound card and try it like that as well. That could be the problem. Any help would be appreciated.
BTW, I have applied the latest 815e update and my BIOS is version 1003
