i can't load windows, i can't reformat. would replacing ram help? i am using an asus a7v266 board. 512 ddr. it always had problems restarting out of nowhere or freezing. or do you guys think i should just get a new computer?

Hi,

How far do you get before the error comes up?

What are your specs?
What RAM?
What PSU?
What are the voltages for the RAM - look in BIOS?
What kb/mse do you use?
Are all USB disconnected at time of errors?
How long does the computer run for before it comes up with the error?

Well I would use memtest to test your ram. But a majority of the time that error is driver related. Please list full system specs.

Yeah, try resetting your BIOS and seeing if that halps, or just getting a new BIOS in general.

IRQL issues tended to show up when my ram was too overclocked. I also got a few because of a loose soundcard at one point.

i don't know much about hardware. i have 512 ddr333 samsung ram. i'm not sure about the psu. i dont' believe the ram is overclocked. i didn't install any new hardware before the errors started. so i dont' know. sorry i can't give you guys more information.

that error usually stems from a driver compatibility issue, but could often be attributed to bad RAM or other hardware. if you can get spares of anything, you should swap them out until you can isolate the problem.

the best troubleshooting tip is to work with a motherboard with the sole parts needed for operation (PSU, CPU+heatsink, mobo, one stick of RAM, a video card, and a harddrive with an OS). if that works, then you know that's not the problem, so stick in another piece of hardware and see if that causes the bluescreen. if one of the above essentials causes the freezes/bluescreen, try with spares that you believe will work and you may be able to isolate the problem that way.

test your machine with as little as possiable in it, mobo, cpu, ram (1 stick), vidcard and hdd. all of the suggestions above are good. I had this same problem with an abit mobo and some cheap ram. the ram checked out so i think the problem was my mobo but i just got a new computer.

basically right now, i have the dvd rom, hd, mobo, 1 stick of ram. and it still doesn't work. i'll d/c the dvd today and test it out.

i got some new ram. i can't seem to reformat. i load windows from cd-rom and it takes forever. i d/c the dvd. its just the cd rom and the hd. any more ideas?
