Irony ???????????????? ????????????????????? Seat Belt thing

Buckle Up

"As laws become increasingly strict for seat belts, fewer people will respond positively by buckling up in response to the laws. There seems to be a die-hard group of non-wearers out there who simply do not wish to buckle up no matter what the government does. I belong to this group." Derek Kieper.

"Kieper, a 21-year-old senior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, died early Tuesday morning when the Ford Explorer he was a passenger in travelled off an icy section of Interstate 80 and rolled several times in a ditch....Two others in the vehicle, including the driver, Luke Havermann of Ogallala, and the front-seat passenger, Nick Uphoff of Randolph Air Force Base in Texas, sustained non-life threatening injuries....Derek, who was thrown from the vehicle, was not wearing a seat belt...Havermann and Uphoff were wearing seat belts at the time."

Quite some irony there, and a sad end to a young life.

yes, that would be considered irony.

You'd think by age 21 people would realize that always NOT doing what the government says is as stupid as always DOING it...

I believe that's only if the passenger is under 18 (Oregon, of course).

People in my car wear their belts, period.

I won't even drive in the freaking parking lot without a belt on, I've worn seatbelts as long as I can remember & it feels seriously wrong to be in a moving vehicle without a belt.

same here. being in a car without a seatbelt is like walking out of the house without any pants on to me.

It does to me too now.

Hell, I can remember when seat belts were a OPTION on cars.😱

Still, you do something long enough and it feels strange NOT to do it.

A good thing were seat belts are concerned I guess.

Now M/C helmets are another matter.

I have dreams all the time were I'm riding a motorcycle with out a helmet and dodging the cops. BTW: In the dreams I'm not doing it to be BAD, I just somehow find myself riding with out a helmet. 🙂

hahaha, that would leave HILARIOUS marks on your body if you crashed.

I honestly don't care about the whole seatbelt thing - but I'd prefer if these idiots would pick some other regulation to stand up against because the idea of some idiot's corpse turning into a projectile and flying through my windshield and injuring me because of his retarded "choice" is frightening. You want to put your life on the line, go sleep on some train tracks, you won't hurt anyone else that way.

Well, I think they should ticket the driver if a passenger isn't wearing his or her belt.

It would make it a lot easier for the driver in the long run.

"Don't wanna wear your belt? Get out and walk then!" 😉
