Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign stop was interrupted Monday when two men stood in the crowd and began screaming, "Iron my shirt!" during one of her final appearances before the New Hampshire primary.

Clinton, a former first lady running to become the nation's first female president, laughed at the seemingly sexist protest that suggested a woman's place is doing the laundry and not running the country.

"Ah, the remnants of sexism ? alive and well," Clinton said to applause in a school auditorium.

Guess we are not as progressive as we thought.
Racists are gearing up for the Obama campaign. And it won't be "Iron my shirts" they chant.

Yeah, but being anti-feminism is still pretty socially acceptable, especially if you're a conservative. Being a huge racist really isn't.

Lots of people have said this, and it's always laughed off, but I really think a huge part of the reason some people hate Hillary so much is because she's an "uppity woman". I don't like her politics or her personality, and I'm sure some of her opposition comes from people who agree with me on that, but I think a rather large segment of her detractors are simply terrified of women who don't act like doormats. This doesn't just apply to her male non-detractors either, I think a lot of women reject the idea of strong, independent women as well.

Obviously they're going for internet fame, like the age-old picture of a guy holding an "iron my shirt" sign at a feminist rally.

She handled it pretty well, I saw the video.

The guys with the sign are lucky to be alive, the crowd sounded pretty mean & ugly.

IMHO, she is toast now anyway. Her recent teary-eyed session is the final nail. My wife disagrees, but I think most Americans will think it too unpresidential. Weakness in the face of adversity.

Bah - just pulled that out of the politician bag of tricks. The real reason she is loosing traction is because the Obama train can't be stopped - she might have the ability to secure the party nomination, become I certainly think she would become more of an obstacle after that.

Obama is more electable, and it's becoming increasingly apparent that his message of "change" carries more weight than ANY others. Add that he is vitalizing the youth vote, and it looks like this election is going to be juicy.

Taking the power away from the old farts! 😛

It's funny because there are two says to respond negatively to her emotional outburst. One way is to see it as a sign of weakness in a genuine reaction, the other way, the way my gut is responding, is that it's just an act to seem more human since one of the big criticisms about her is how "robotic" she is. My gut feeling was reinforced this morning when I heard her sound byte where she was asked about her tear jerker reaction, shes says "yeah some may view it as a sign of weakness but maybe just maybe some will see that I am really human",

Hillary's screeching voice is enough to scare anybody.

Maybe if she crys a lot people will vote for her.

Hillary is yesterday's problems and yesterday's news. Obama is Today's breath of fresh air. Image is everything, but is the substance really there?

At least they kept it clean, they could have said "get on your knee?s", of course maybe that would sound to much like Bill.

I'm not as progressive as I thought because two guys said this to Hillary? Fantastic!

Is there anyone here who really considers America to be particularly progressive?

There were a couple of jokesters at a Paul rally the other day wearing t-shirts that said, "Steal My Money."
