It sucks. Its crap. There's no way Bobby Flay could have won against Morimoto.
Why?

Morimoto is the better chef. Wait til the end... there's no way Bobby Flay should have won. Even in their first matchup... Morimoto clearly outduels Flay. Flay is terrrible.
So you tasted the food they both cooked?
I don't see how anyone can say who won, other than the people who tasted the food. How the food got to the plate is irrelevant, all that matters (mostly) is how it tastes. Presentation is important, to a degree, but the taste is most important.
You can't tell from watching on TV whether one chef did better than another, other than how the food looks.

If you watched the show, you'd know that plating/presentation is part of the scoring. And you can tell just from watching the chefs prepare the food. Flay just doesn't have the sophistication that Morimoto does
In your opinion.

I agree, they need more food critics and less celebrities (and wtf was Gunther from Friends doing on there???).

Other than that, I thought Alton is doing a great job, he even sounds like Fukui (err...his translator, that is). He does a great job of injecting factoids and some bad jokes. The Ota counterpart kind of sucks though.
You mean like the original Iron Chef? Oh wait, that's what they had judging those, too. Actors, actresses, singers, etc.

You are 100% correct!! Flay sucks... He lost BOTH Iron Chef bouts from the original series...

And on iron chef america... he forgot about stuff on the stove, cut himself, put stuff in the blender with no lid... he is such an overrated price of carp.

And while I really like Mario, he did not win either... nothing he did was original. He took 'done-to-death' recipies and just changed the main ingredient to suit the theme ingredient.

W. Puck was great... but there was some controversy about his bringing a professional desert chef and not having anything to do with what she produced.

Even Alton Brown was disappointing. And the chairman... he needs an azzwhooping!

Iron Chef America is gonna suck... big time... I am a HUGE fan of the original Iron Chef. It saddens me to see what they are doing with it now.

:)
I thought Flay lost the 1st match in Japan, won the rematch in NY? I know he *should* have lost both, though.

I think Flay is very good. It's just his personality rubs some people the wrong way.

Who won? I got tired of watching it so I changed the channel halfway through.

Flay won by one point, 50-49 I think the final tallies were. I was pretty bored and hungover all day yesterday so I ended up watching like 3 hours of ICA til 2AM...and I watch a lot of FoodTV as it is. I'm really glad they got Alton Brown as the commentator, as he gives the show a good amount of humor.

Only thing I don't like...is Mark Dacascos (sp?). I just don't think he fits at all, and he's fallen so far that his most recognizable role right now is the guy who bites an apple and stands around for an hour making weird faces. Someone with more relation to the culinary industry would be more appropriate.

dum$shit Flay won. He seems to be somehow winning matches that don't really seem like he's good at.
Ever since he stood on that cutting board.... I could not possibly loath him any more. just a moron.
oh, and don't even get me started on the UN-edumacated judges.... one of the best american comments I've heard was... " Now this is provably the best dish of its kind in its country, but I don't like it. "

I will try not to watch it, but I know I will.... I hope Alton brown challenges Flay and beats the b*tch.

wait till you guys watch the ogre from the sopranos on re-runs. now THIS guy has class...

You've been here much longer than me....you should know that most people's opinion around here is that if it isn't Asian/Oriental, it's crap.

I think that match was 99.9% fixed, imagined if Bayless won, FoodTV's iron chef starting 0-1 doesn't look good.:)
