This is exactly what my friend who gave me the tea said. This is some premium brand out of China, his dad owns a small tea shop there among other things he does. He's buying 20 kilos of this stuff. Seriously the best tea he has brought in by far.

Eeek... I just realized that I pay almost $8/oz for mine. But I prefer Pu er tea over Iron Buddha. Problem with Iron Buddha is that the cheap stuff is pretty bitter.

never really liked it until I had a cup of amazing iron budda in hong kong. Good iron budda is amazing.

Oh yeah. I've spent a little over $50 on a tea cake before (12.6 oz) and that's just scratching the surface. But I always price it out in terms of the cost per pot of tea. My limit is usually between $1-$2 USD a pot and that can yield oh... 3/4 of a liter of tea. So I usually think of my most expensive purchases as being comparable to buying a drink at 7-11. My daily drinking tea right now costs me $1 USD a pot.

But yeah, to clarify, I agree with a previous post in that Iron Buddha has a large degree of quality depending on what you buy. The good stuff is really good but it's very different from what you get on the low end. I find that even very cheap pu er is very drinkable for me.

I am the reverse. I can drink very cheap Tie Guan Yin as opposed to puher. The latter just tastes rotten if it is the cheap stuff, like in dim sum restaurant.

Mmmmmmm... I like the dusty moldy mildew taste.
