Nice. For any Costco members (not thread crapping, just offering alternatives), you can hit up Costo.com and get it for $140-$20 MIR (good until 9/30). For those who aren't members (and thus pay an extra 5%) or who don't want to deal with rebates, this is definitely the way to go. I think Amazon's shipping might be less too.

Thread for that deal, so no one thinks I'm stealing credit.

Lol... use the $10 off $100 coupon and it is already 119... + 2% from eBates.. that makes it like 116 after shipping. Not a bad deal at all.

This is a hot deal. It was not to long ago that this player retailed for $200. It is the best mp3/cd player on the market. If you are in "the market" for one this is the one to get.

Good call on the coupon. I was going to get it from Costco, but nuts to that. No shipping costs for me. Hope I don't have any problem upgrading the firmware like some have mentioned.

10gb ipod is only 369 with educational discount. I'd imagine that the 5gb is only 269 with the same discount

*only* being used relatively

Where can I find about this education discount so I can see if I apply?

Nooooooooo!!!! I just bought an IRiver Slim X not more than a month ago and I paid 150 for mine.... I thought 149 was a steal but they just keep on dropping in price... I guess they're making way for the new Slim X iMP400 series comming out in the fall...

Great deal btw, the IRiver ownz!

If you buy it from Costco and it EVER breaks you can get your money back or a replacement; try that at Amazon.

omg... and I paid $140 for my ChromeX! Not long ago! Damn you American's... ;) Everywhere else the players are damn expensive!

Btw: Get it!!! Its a great deal for a great player. The firmware updates are great (quite a few things I always wanted came true), the display rules, and well... uhm, its just an awesome player (ChromeX, iRiver2, SlimX... all are :D ). Well, you must consider the price of the iPod. Though I must admit that the iPod looks better than the SlimX (the ChromeX looks better too IMHO). Oh, and if you wonder about the anti shock... as long as you use good rechargables its no problem... you should be able to walk unless your steps are very small (but frequent). That is when the battery is at least half full, under that it depends on the bitrate.

Just got it for $80 ($120 - $40 Amazon Viking SODIMM screw-up GC). This thing is sweet, looks and sounds as good as the $200 Sony D-EJ1000, but also plays mp3s :) The earbuds that come with it are kinda crappy, but then again, I haven't seen any portable that comes with decent headphones.
