I can't decide on which player would be a better choice Iriver clix 2 and it's ability to be used with music subscription services like Rhapsody, and Napster.
Or the Cowon D2 and it's better sound quality (or so I've heard) and
cool touch screen interface and ability to use an SD card for extra storage.
I ask here because I'm sure some of you own one or the other.

Iriver clix 2
Pros:
+Can be used with a subscription
-No external storage

Cowon D2
+Touch screen (slick)
+Ability to use SD card
+Sound quality?
-No use with a subscription service.

Do you need a subscription service? Would you absolutely need to have unlimited downloads? That's ok if you don't have any music of your own and keep up with the latest artists and top 20 hits. However, if you're a fan of older established music from artists that aren't always on the top 20 and have new stuff all the time (classic rock for example) then it's not necessary to have a subscription as once you download all that you want, you have no use for the subscription and cancelling it renders your music unusable.

I'm not arguing with you, just going into more detail as to why I thought a subscription mattered. I thought a subscription would be a good idea because I listen to a very wide variety of music, and I do listen to some newer artists, not top 20 though. I also listen to a lot of Indie artists, and like to listen to jazz, classical etc. With a lot of musical exploring here and there. I listen to more types of music than that, and all of the above is why I thought a subscription mattered, if anyone feels it doesn't please say so, or if you need more details from me just ask.

Well, the thing is unless you download like 10 new tracks a day or something like that you're not likely going to find it worth it. You'd have to download alot.

Also some songs are only available through purchase I believe.

I've had the D2 for about 6 months now.

I really like it alot. I had the Cowon X5L before and loved it. The X5L sound quality was the best I've heard in an MP3 player but my battery conked out so I switched to the D2 based on my previous experience with the X5L. The sound quality on the D2 is not as good as the X5L but it is certainly better than the Nano I used to have. I found that strange because the amp on the D2 is rated higher than the X5L. Regardless, with all the sound enhancement features turned on, I would say the D2 is still one of the best sounding out there.

One thing you might have left out considering the D2 is the battery life. It has a 50+ hour battery. I have never run out of power. When I commute in the morning, I usually use my D2 and normally don't need to charge the player for the week.

If you have any other questions on the D2, give me a shout.

Take a look at the samsung yp-p2. Recent firmware upgrade allows you to use it with your phone via bluetooth. It also allows you to share any of your mp3's with other p2's via bluetooth. There is also an addon that will allow you to use it with sdcards and voice record. Samsung really looks to be improving the player alot via firmware upgrades - you can read what's planned here: http://yjzone.net/showthread.php?t=1758
