Hey, sorry, i know this is the wrong forum but i need a response quick. The software forums take forever. Here's my problem:

my neighbor down the street has the same ISP and modem, and has no problems connecting. Help. What can i do?
 
your identd is your mask or something like that, and it doesnt much like that

im too stupid for networking.
 
Okay. Tools... Options in mIRC. Connect menu: make sure your email is something other than sharky@*, and then in the Identd tab, make sure your user ID is something other than Sharky as well. System is fine left at UNIX, port 113.

Ah, I see the problem now. Has your machine been compromised? Looks like your system's IP appears in the Blitzed BL. You're getting booted by BOPM (blitzed open proxy monitor) because your address has been identified as an open proxy. The only solution is to get an admin to remove the ban (highly unlikely, don't even try), or to use an IRC bouncer.

A better solution would be for him to stop being an open proxy, lol.


 
There's no way to fix it really. Like I said, has your machine been compromised? Someone could be running a proxy on it, and since gotten it banned from that particular network. A bouncer is a program like BNC, psyBNC, muh, ezbounce, etc that's run from a shell account to mask your originating address. I can hook you up with a temporary bouncer if you wish. Do you have MSN, or even better can you get on EFNet (irc.efnet.org) so I can give you the details?

i have Norton internet security 2005..
i get attacked not too often, but it stops it and tells me the ip. unless someone went around my firewall.
did you add me on msn?

Norton is poop.

You have most likely been hacked, dood. You should consider a format and fresh install of your O/S.

It sucks but it happens.

Back those files up and then do it.

If people have proxy on your machine they could steal or blow out all your files anyway.

Yeah, that does suck. I'd back up all my important stuff (music, movies, ISOs, projects, documents, other irretrievable stuff) and reformat.
 
The IRC bouncer I just gave you is a temp solution, mind you. You need to do as these guys say and just back up and reformat. You've been compromised somehow, which sucks, but these things do happen.
