Iraq's oil exports hit their lowest level since the war, according to figures released on Monday, heightening a sense of crisis as fuel supplies grow scarce and political leaders struggle to form a government.
Iraq exported 1.1 million barrels per day (bpd) of oil in December, a senior official said -- less than any month since exports resumed in mid-2003 after the U.S. invasion and about half the level seen during sanctions under Saddam Hussein.
December's 1.1 million bpd was down from 1.2 million the previous month, said Shamkhi Faraj, Director General of Economics and Oil Marketing, who oversees Iraq's oil exports.
That compares with a post-war peak of around 1.8 million bpd in early 2005 and is well below exports under Saddam, when Iraq regularly exported 1.8-2.5 million bpd.

Maybe if we had a President who had some knowledge of the real world and not wishful thinking we would have had a plan in place to actually, I don't know, increase oil production? Or maybe this was the Bushies plan all along to help his oil buddies?

Don't blame any of this on Bush.. he already passed the blame off to his God.. that is who you need to speak with.. Bush might be able to get you in touch with him if you ask nicely and also promise to support the next pork bill or Haliburton no bid contract

Which is worse; a debacle or a calamity? Whichever one is worse, please apply that to the current situation. But don't worry... Chalabi is on the way to save the day! 🙂

If Iraq was pumping the additional 1.1 million barrels a day how much would gas be?
I'd say about $1.89.

isn't it already common knowledge that the US oil interests want control of the iraqi oil fields so that they can restrict the flow of oil from those fields to drive the cost of gas up rather than to free up this source of oil to drive the cost of gas at the pump down?

I thought the lefties wanted to state the Bush would control the oil fields.

That is why we went into Iraq.

Of counrse, the self destruction would have nothing to do with the lack of output.
And who is doing the self destruction (HB & Co?).

Didnt Bush once head another oil company that went bankrupt? This is all supply and demand...US oil companies demand the supply low for increased profits.

Yes, his company excelled at digging dry holes untill some of Daddy's buddies from Saudi Arabia bailed him out.

Oh, wait; that never happened.
