Iraqis want Saddams Old US Friends on Trial

What's wrong with that ? Or did you forget that he was our "Valued Ally in the Region" until he decided to help himself to Kuwait. Who funded and helped his raise to power ? You think people are going to forget who created this monster who they had to live with a very long time.

The US backed Saddam even while he oppressed his people. Regardless of the reasons or any justification, this is the case. Some Iraqis are a bit upset that the US supported the same person they later kicked out because of expediency.
 
So we made a mistake. Why cry over spilled milk? Let's wipe it up and move on.

heh...some people would like us to just forget that, and live in this lala land version of the world where the US is some great liberator trying to help the Iraqi people. I bet the Shi'ite could tell a story or two about how they were screwed over by the US.

Oh well, let's just leave them to their delusions. Hopefully they'll snap out of it one day.

Umm, I believe it was the US who was the main supporter of Saddam some years back, and I believe it was the US (correct me if I am wrong) who decided to "liberate" Iraq after supporting him. I also believe it is the US who is occupying Iraq right now. We are in control, no one else.

Now, if the Iraqis want someone elses head too, they are welcome. They did not start this war, we did.

Umm, ok? It was the US who supported Saddam, and it was the US that decided to oust him. It is also the US that is in control of Iraq right now. How does any of this pertain to US politicians not being under the jurisdiction of the Iraqi people?
Chirac and Putin are just as safe from being tried along side Saddam as US politicians are. Your reiterating common knowledge does not change this.
 
Actually, Saddam got much of us support during the 1980s from the former USSR and current EU countries and the US.

But I would have to agree that US representatives (Rumsfeld et al) that actively courted Saddam and provided support for his regime should be tried for assisting a despot in killing Iraqis and Iranians.

Of course not. Why on earth would they support a court they cannot control. At least the US Supreme Court is stuffed with good old US republicans (mostly, thank God) and (meh) democrats.

 
If you people want to believe that it was the US that put Saddam into the position that he was in..then aren't the US under the most obligation to remove him from power?
