ONE person died in a war zone, they killed a POW swiftly and painlessly, how is this any worse than what the US soldiers have done?

The person in question is really a contract worker. Your idea of having the Iraqis leave their country shows your cognitivie ineptitude. What other country will let them in? That still leaves Iraq as a mess for someone to clean up.
Because this guy was innocent, he was not a prisoner of war he was a hostage. He was only in Iraq to help rebuild infastructure, not fight the war. And they videotaped it and posted it on the internet to show off his killing.

he was dead in less than 30 seconds. as far as executions go, that's pretty darn fast and painless. He could have died a slow torturous death. Since they were going to kill him regardless, I'd have to say that was a good way to die. Would you choose to have your fingernails ripped off? shock treatments, organs cut out, limbs, fingers and toes cut off? a bullet to the head that doesn't kill. the beheading was more humane IMO

The murder of Nick Berg is disgraceful and inexcusable. He was a completely innocent civilian as far as we know, and it appears he was tortured (the reports indicate his body suffered various trauma before his death) and ruthlessly murdered. This killing can't be justified on the basis of the serious misdeeds of GIs at Abu Ghraib (if it proves to be true that they occurred, which it appears is the case).
That said, people have the right to express themselves here without being personally attacked, threatened, or discriminated against on the basis of their ethnicities, nationalities, faiths, genders, etc. All too often, people here resort to these kinds of attacks out of an inability to respond to the merits of others' posts, or simply being too lazy to do so. I know I have resorted to this on rare occasions, but we should all at least try to behave like dignified adults and treat one another with respect.

The torture, the beheading as revenge for torture, the insults on this and that side of the issue are all designed to humiliate the other, the one who is felt to be an enemy. Why do we do this? It is because we already feel like the worst in the world and somebody just reminded us of what we have deeply buried. Each of us feels like the worst in the world and instinctively knows that everyone else does too. Our greatest vulnerability is this already certain belief. All it takes to set it off is someone to bring insult to the protective identification we have covered that deep wound with. Nationalism, team, family, group, race, religion, whatever form of identification with the good we hold as precious illusion that we aren't nobodies, if that is insulted we kill. We would rather kill others than remember how bad we feel. Humanity is insane, living in an upside down world.
You will never ever cure your inner pain by making the other feel worse. But we will try till the end of time. Only he who knows himself has a chance of escape.
