UPDATE: Shoe statue taken down after request from central government. Said Abdullah Jabara, Salaheddin deputy governor: "We will not allow anyone to use the government facilities and buildings for political motives."

I see this as positive as well. Hopefully it will be moved to a non-government facility and be proudly displayed to the public. :thumbsup:

In Iraq, we have the shoes heard around the world.

Since Iraq is saying the shoe must go, maybe the GWB Presidential Library will offer to house it.

Assuming he said something different before, the words "after all" emphasize that it's an updated view, which is different than a 'contradiction'. There's also a tongue in cheek tone.

I know what after all means. But they wouldn't be "ok by themselves" if Bush didn't authorize the invasion of Iraq. It's sort of a paradoxical situation.
