Iraqi's and Indian's

Is this war digging up an old government policy? Look how we treated the American Indian. They lived their lives for hundreds of years, hunting, fishing and farming, long before the Europeans found the Americas. Yes, they killed each other, fighting over resources. And they took prisoners to be slaves. The Europeans came, to conquer new lands for God and Country! They robbed, killed, and imprisoned the native people in their own land. The sickness, both physical, and idealogical, were spread throughout the Indian people. One of the final solutions was to isolate them and their different culture, on reservations. The excuse was that they couldn't or wouldn't be educated in the white man's ways.

Do we make this a new war to tame the Mid East? Will we make reservations for them to build their mosques? Our history is full of us doing what we want, not necessarily what is right. In the end, people will be unhappy, and either rise up against (Sitting Bull and the Sioux Nations) or undermine the structure of (Indian Gaming/Casinos) of America.

Unfortunately for the Corporations running the USA today, they don't worry about history, they let their elected puppets pay the price for their conquests. It is Capitalism that is running this war, not the fight for freedom. Democracy is not synonymous with Big Business. Capitalism makes (some) people rich, but it doesn't guarantee them Freedom. We need to leave the Middle East. It is proven that the Alaskan oil fields have enough oil to provide for our usage for many years (200 at 1985 levels-very old data-doesn't reflect new sources found since). The longer we stay involved in Mid East politics, and economics, the worse it will become. 56+ years and there is no real peace in their land. It seems obvious why they hate us.

Let's leave them alone. Take the tanks home, ship the soldiers back, remove Exxon, BP, and the other oil companies. Stop supply Peter so that he will kill Paul. Leave them alone, let them figure it out for themselves. Our troubles are our own doing, starting long before most of us were born.

i agree with some of what you said there, but prepare to be flamed 🙂

Capitalism makes (some) people rich, but it doesn't guarantee them Freedom
i agree, the terms that the administration uses "freedom" and "democracy" both of course mean "capitalism".
a iraqi government owned oil industry simply will not do.

different cultures do not always do well under a capitalist system, people have to believe in it to make it work, which can be very difficult.
in america it has worked extremely well, but look at all the countries that are still struggling to make it work for the benefit of all (i.e. russia).

There is not that much oil in Alaska, and we have a diminishing dependence on the middle east as well. In 200 years I doubt cars will run on oil based combustion engines anyway. You act as if that region was idyllic until oil was found. The fact is that region has thousands of years of internal conflict without western influence.

How did we abandon them? By abiding UN resolutions calling for a cessation of force, so did 30 other countries at the same time.

I wondered due to your recent membership if you were a current AT member trying to get someone to look at your post instead of just dismissing it due to your id.

Even Bush 41 said he made a big mistake... leave it at that. My point was we arent going to do that to them again.

Why do we have to stay when this is done? Keep the Corporations safe by being their armed guards? Not a good idea, these people will kill the bodyguard with the same bomb...

Your true colors? What? That you are an isolationist who prefers to bury his head in the sand in regards to the rest of the world?

You are absolutely correct about the Mid East situation, I did not mean to imply that it is an idyllic wonderland. There is a limited supply of useful land, and no good reason to live there unless you are making a lot of money. Plus it is hot and humid, and the population has a limited experience with deoderant!

I think we should wait for others to ask us for help, before we steamroller over them with our "Good Will".

Full Circle...Looks like the dog is chasing his tail.

I swear, this guy is the second coming of Moonie. Anyway, you imply that the middle east never had strife or war before we came into the picture. Maybe you should take a history course.....
rolleye.gif
Anyway, I think your isolationist policy is simplistic and naive. As easy as it sounds to remove our troops/involvement in the middle east, what is going to happen when Iran lobs a nuke at Israel? Or maybe when India lobs one at Pakistan? Do you think we will not be affected? Dream on....:light:

Less Israelis, Arabs dancing in the streets, the usual animal antics of a third world area:Q

What about the American Indian? When does that problem get fixed? 100 years, and they don't have their own country! How many years before we leave Iraq? We're still in Korea!! We had to lose Vietnam for "peace" to settle in, and thay still took 20 years. Why should we stay? Why? I don't have good answers, but I'll give the ones I have, and you all can rip them apart😀
