Applauding self defense is a little different from calling him some useless piece of Islamic filth wouldn't you agree? And being happy that someone died is a little different from feeling bad that they had to die.
Ever seen/read The Green Mile? Most of the guards did their job executing people and weren't HAPPY about doing it. Then there was that one guy who got off on watching people die. There's a difference.
