Iraqi flag next to American flag?

My Wife stopped in a party store earlier and the two owners were arguing. The man told her that he wanted to hang an Iraqi flag to his American flag to show solidarity. He asked my wife what she thought and I agredd with her. She said that right now, considering peoples emotions are still running high, that it would not be a wise idea. He said he was Christian not Muslim and she said people won't know that unless you tell them and still to some it won't matter. Also that considering the history of Iraq/America relations, it definately is a bad idea. Furthermore she said that some will take it as an affront to the American flag right now. She warned him that because of the area we live in, that his store would be vandalized the first night he hung it up and he would be lucky to walk out of the store unmolested. She apologized for the morons in the world and advised him to just wait for a conclusion to this whole horrible mess.

What do you think? Any comments are welcomed.

Interesting. Probably not the best idea, though. I agree with you and your wife. Incidentally, since Sept 12, my neighbor has had both US & Israeli flags flying next to each other.

I agree with your wife. There are even rumors of involvement by Saddam. If a story broke that Saddam had helped the terrorists in any way, his place would probably be destroyed within the hour.

On the other hand, I bet a lot of people wouldn't even know what flag it was.

I personally have no problem with it at all.

But, like you said, it is a very unwise idea right now. He is really 'asking' for it.

How lovely! Do they put that on the license plates? :disgust:🙁

I agree with your wife.

I remember when I was back in SoCal, a Vietnamese store owner posted a pic of Ho Chih Min outside his store and 50,000 angry people gathered outside and demanded that he take it down. He need police escorts to get in/out of shop too...

No, it's because David Duke used to live here and we have alot of rednecks. (by this term I mean those racist, uneducated, ill-mannered jerks)

There are parts of this country that would be vandalized if you put up an American flag.. 🙁 If he were to put up two flags and put the American flag highest I wouldnt see a problem with any other flag of another nation, as long as the American flag is displayed with highest honor. But its a free country and he can display anything he dares to.

Would a real US Patriot EVER succum to threats of morons?

NO!! A Real American would fly the flag no matter what threats come from it!!!

I say the owner should be brave and fly both flags if he so wishes!!!!

He shouldn't fly it next to it, but he should be able to fly it under it. ie: same way we put the california flag under the usa flag.

when he was in congress, did he represent your area?

Unfortunately, yes. But I didn't live here then. I moved here because it is beautiful. I hate when something so lovely gets tainted by twisted ideals.
