Iraqi extremists kidnap a group of Russians.

Fox News just reported the a group of Russians, possibly 12, have been kidnapped by radical Iraqis. Unlike the Chinese, the Russians can and will deploy if pissed off enough. The Chechnyans have left the Russians bitter toward radical Islamic groups. This one would be a free international ticket to vent their frustration on the Iraqi rebels. I'm hoping for a quick and peacful if possible settlement. This isn't helping mattters.

Perhaps Russia will deploy troops??? Stranger things have happened.

they might if they do we might see something like the airport confrontation in bosnia. maybe.

 
Personally I would welcome them, they don't have these pesky morals about the handling of terrorists that western nations have.
 
They will probably release the Russians once they find out they kidnapped Russians. The terrorists prolly mistook them for some other nationals. Russians are opposed to the war and are friendly towards Iraqi's.
 
I think the last time any Islamic terrorist types did anything to some Russians the Russians caught them and then castrated them before sending them on their way to meet Allah. Since that incident they have left the Russians alone. It seems that the fear of not being able to service virgins in the afterlife greatly bothered them. Maybe the Russians should employ the same tactics with these thugs, looks like it had worked pretty well.

NO matter what this is getting really really ugly and they seem to have some cohesiveness and are being commanded by someone...
 
They released the Chinese already, and will probably do the same for the Russians. Both countries are opposed to the US occupation.
 
Right, I'm also pretty sure the Russians will be released. Besides, Putin's got enough on his hands with Chechnya - I really doubt he's looking for another area of conflict with which to entertain his already fund-starved military with.

Then again, anything could happen - if the kidnappers do something stupid, like return the hostages in appalling disrepair as a nod to their brothers-in-arms, who knows? We could see Alfa Team working alongside Marines or something *shrugs*
 
Talk about a major mistake. Kidnapping Russians...what a fuckup. Oh, if only I could see what was going through their minds right now. Once they realize those are Russians, I'm pretty sure they'll release them. They have nothing to gain and everything to lose from pissing off the Russians.
 
Unlikely that they'd do anything to them. They already released the chinese, and the group of pakistanis and phillipinos.

But I don't see them going into iraq if anything happens. They'd probaly just blame the US etc...
