what was the purpose of your visit? unless youre military or other government, they arent [to the best of my knowledge] allowing civilian flights over there.

Why was I there? I have a device that will detect intruders into a area 5 miles long and extremely directional I gave one to the Ministery of Oil and installed it on the line in the North if it works out they will be purchasing them at the cost of manifacture. One big contractor over there is extremely mad at me for going around them and not allowing them to even see the device.

Thong:

1. A narrow strip, as of leather, used for binding or lashing.

2. A whip of plaited leather or cord.

3. A sandal held on the foot by a strip that fits between the first and second toes and is connected to a strap usually passing over the top or around the sides of the foot.

4. A garment for the lower body that exposes the buttocks, consisting of a narrow strip of fabric that passes between the thighs supported by a waistband.

You sounded like a native speaker to me.

to me, that means he didnt go over there with a contracting firm thats government sanctioned, or he went over there on his own, in which case, id like to know how.

One doesn't need to be "government sanctioned" to travel in Iraq (though any free agent there is present at his own risk). Remember Nick Berg? He went over to Iraq in an effort to secure a contract with the new regime (though he apparently didn't succeed). He was traveling without government escort and did not work for the government or a government contractor.

I just got back from a little trip to Iraq (3 days) and I can see nothing good going on there. Electricity is only available for a short time each day and the temp; is getting worse every day, I dont know how these people live there.

Let me guess, you don't visit the third world much? Iraq ain't Manhattan, and you judging the place by the amount of amenities it offers just goes to show me that you don't know the first thing about how to measure the amount of progress (or lack thereof) going on there.

Always with the negative take, the unwarranted attack. You're a real piece of work. :disgust:

You are a real piece of work, shove it up your ying yang you creep. Go crap in some other thread. I dont care what you think or say.
You are the kind of person that does nothing for anybody but rasps on anyone just for the hell of it.
Thongs---would you feel better if I called them sandals? 😱

I didn't mean to be rude, its just that your crediablity goes away with your poor english.

And don't worry about the likes of Tabb, he's still pissed his Mom named him after a passe diet soda and then misspelled it to boot!

Or someone has the else has the name Tab. You're doing a great job bringing the forums to a mature state.

Hey, Bleep, just for sh!ts and giggles, go read any one of CAD's "The Iraqi Tourist Bureau Welcome's You!" kind of posts about how peachy keen things are there.

And don't worry about the likes of Tabb, he's still pissed his Mom named him after a passe diet soda and then misspelled it to boot! 😉[/quote]

 I've never posted a "The Iraqi Tourist Bureau Welcome's You!" kind of thread. I have posted "good" news coming from there because it doesn't seem to get much (if any) play in the "mainstream press". Just because you don't want to hear about the progress being made there doesn't mean it isn't happening.

The title of this thread is "Iraq sucks" and you blame me for having a negative take? Hey, your choice of who to believe. People like long-term military members, journalists, and aid workers who have actually had decades of direct experience working in third-world nations and say that Iraq IS improving, or someone who was there for three days and implies that it is not.

You know what kinda good news I want to hear outta Iraq? I want to hear that the near-daily bombings and slaughtering of dozens of people have come to a halt. I want to hear that Iraq has finally secured its pipelines and is now self-sufficient and no longer sucking off our teat to the tune of billions of US$ every month. I want to hear that the newly formed Iraqi military is taking over security for its own people and that our military is packing up and shipping out.

Got any good news like that?

Yeah, seems someone of his status would present a better example😉

DM - Yes, there are reports of the Iraqi security forces/police fighting and aiding our troops against the terrorists. Ofcourse you really don't care about those things you listed except maybe our military packing up and shipping out - right? There is progress being made despite what you see on the news.

So has P&N progressed past hunting\gathering yet? Do you even have fire? I guess this is what I should have expected...

What do you mean I don't care? Of course I care! But please, when you have some good news along the lines of what I've outlined above, please get back to me. News about the 4th ID painting a schoolroom yesterday or that electricity is on in Baghdad for 4.5 hrs/day up from 3.75 hrs/day doesn't really cut it in my book.

"There is progress being made despite what you see on the news.

And where did you get this news?

Don't confuse your fantasy with direct knowledge. They are not the same. You know as much of the truth about the real situation as the rest of us, nothing.

Did you see us winning the "hearts and minds" of the Iraqi people?

Haha, what a joke. Just like our president and this entire sham war.

Why?

can anyone else think of someone with poor english? ('misunderestimated' ring a bell? 😉 )

Oh really? Then why are you saying we punched a tar baby then? How do you know what the situation is? You know nothing - yet you bleat on endlessly about punching a tar baby. Did you finally look in that mirror you carry around to deflect critiques of what you spew?

Anyway, I know a guy who was there who i've spoken to on a few occasions. He's on the radio here in the area(has a morning show) and he lives in the same town as I. Infact, he doestn' live far from me. He saw first hand some of the "good" that is going on. Also, I've talked to a few who actually served over there and they too have stated that we are accomplishing alot - despite what the "4th Estate" tells(or doesn't) people. The story of progress just isn't getting it's due, while our "news" spews the negative every chance it gets. But yeah, you're right, the media doesn't know about the real situation - yet they continue to spew "news" about it every day.😉
