yeah, those of us that can admit it know Iraq has been a failure. It;s very sad looking at those pics; it's also disgusting that this is all the Bush administration's fault. Mission Accomplished my ass.

Those have been posted on this forum before. They are grotesque images, yes, but what is your point in posting them? I could go to ogrish.com if your intention was a gross-out scene. Please add input.

As much as I don't care for bush and the iraqi war, what the hell do rebels/insurgents have to gain by attacking their own cities and people?

Umm. What did you think was happening there? Those scenes have been happened countless times in human history. War is hell.

Ihe insurgents want the power that Saddam Hussein held preinvasion. When the coalition withdraws its forces, it will have power, at least in one regon of the country.

Saddam Hussen rose to and maintained power through brute force How Chalabi ever sold idea that the US would greeted as liberators is a testament to the collective stupidity of the administration. That, or the neocons knew and just didn't care.

Collaborators. If by some miracle the soviets would have made landfall in USA (see Red Dawn) you know a good percentage of people here would have gone with "the powers that be" and became US soviet cops, translators etc Those types are fair targets for the uderground patriots/resistance/terrorists depending on your POV. In fact the brits had cells setup for this very contingency had the German made sucessfu landing.

Many think that the common people are more easily recruited to various causes by the civilian deaths.

Why cluster bombs haven't been outlawed is a little strange. They clearly fit within the definition of weapons of mass destruction due to the high failure rate after drop.

Many Iraqis believe that if coalition troops left, there would not be a civil war and that peace could be attained quickly.

Currently, it appears to me that Iraq is a recruiting and training ground for those who wish to cause harm to western nations over middle east policy. I have seen reports of Iraq style attacks in Afghanistan and am a little concerned that it will be spreading further, especially after the bombings in London.

The second our troops leave Iraq is going to erupt in Civil War and they'll install another dictator. It's pointless to have our soldiers there... they'll just keep dying and there will be no end to this war in site.

The middle east is a very big can of worms to open.
Best bet is to get out, stay out and let god sort them out.

Give the insurgents an outside enemy in the area and they'll all agree to attack them. Leave and there'll be infighting undoubtedly.
Leave it to long before getting out and there won't be anyone educated enough left to rebuild anything worthwhile out of the ashes.

For those of you wondering what the point of photos like this is, I think it's at the very least a good reminder of how bad war really is. I don't think we always take war seriously enough in this country, and I think a large number of Americans, from the President on down, could use a reminder of what really happens over there. I'm not saying we all need to be a bunch of peaceniks, but I think we need to remember just what war means. This whole "yeehaw, bring 'em on" attitude is extremely inappropriate.

The only true victors in the Iraq War won before we even dropped the first bomb. That would be companies like Haliburton, Bechtel, Lockheed, etc... the military-industrial complex that Eisenhower warned us about.

I agree 100%... I say bring them home now. Declare victory to sooth Middle America, and get out now.

That's what I'm saying. Bring our soldiers home. If a civil war develops in Iraq, oh well, let them kill each other. Then when we go back to sort it out there will be less insurgents to worry about. More than likely there will be some inocent civilian casualties, but, hey that is the price of war.
