Umm CNN is owned by GE, why the hell would GE want us to lose? They have probaly billions in contracts to replace the old GE electrical grid in Baghdad, much less all the stuff they make for the armed forces...

I don't think we can really compare ourselves to Rome or Britian. These countries overexpanded their territories. We're a union mostly on one continent, and we've got modern technology binding us together.

What's going to happen is likely a shift in ideologies. People are going to have to toss their entitlement to various things, and we'll become more competitive.

The United States isn't going to shrink, or disband like other nations. We'll likely be absorbed into a world government in about 100-500 years, assuming we don't break out a nuclear war...
