Just heard it on the radio. I"ll get links later.

Quote from MSNBC
The Iraqi government will accept a U.N. mandate to submit to inspections and disarmament of weapons of mass destruction, Reuters and other sources say. More details soon.

FoxNews
UNITED NATIONS ? Iraq has accepted a tough new Security Council resolution that will return U.N. weapons inspectors to the country after nearly four years, an Arab diplomat said Wednesday.

BUT, couldn't this just be another stall tactic?

Yeh...I'll believe it when the UN announces that they've completed their inspections and were not hindered by any further shell games.

Woohoo, my 401K is going up today.

😀

If it gets over $2K I can take a loan against it to pay off some of my debt...

Yep it could, but my money says that Bin Laden et al will strike us if there were a real chance for a solution. Think we are going to fight, because we will be happy to work with OBL on this.

Even if Iraq did disarm everything, which may or may not happen, I still think we will go in. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

pretty much a lot of people are predicting that they would accept the UN terms in the end. But are they going to go thru with it? that's another story.

Haha.. I am reminded of an old chinese proverb:

"Fool me 16 times, shame on you... fool me 17 times and I blow your ass up!!"

This just means the terrorists have to come up with another excuse to do something to us now. Since Bin Laden was warning us not to make war with Iraq... then again we will probably be at war with them next year anywayz.

How is this any different than the letter/resolution that Iraq submitted to the UN a few weeks ago, saying that they would comply unconditionally to inspections?

It's what they actually do that counts. Wait until the weapons inspectors are over there and see how much freedom they're really given. Unfortunately, it will take the UN six months of new resolutions until they actually have teams in place so that we can find out...

Damn, it seems like people are really pissed that they said Yes instead of No. 😕

Pissed? Not at all. No war/violence is a good thing.
Sceptical? Damn skippy! He's accepted UN terms how many friggin times in the past? And after his screwball Parliament already bonked the resolution?

I see this is a positive step in the right direction. Its not an end-all or save-all, but it is progress (unless you define progress as starting a war).

In the immortal words of Bush
"There's an old...saying in Tennessee...I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee that says Fool me once...(3 second pause)... Shame on...(4 second pause)...Shame on you....(6 second pause)...Fool me...Can't get fooled again." --George W. Bush to Nashville, Tennessee audience, Sept. 17, 2002, MSNBC-TV --Politex, Sept. 17, 2002, 10 PM

What was it that Bush said? but hey, we didn't elect him to read speeches.... He's going to get the job done with IRAQ.

There are two sides to every potential deal. Everyone here is focussing on the fact that Iraq will pull out. However there is a good chance that the US will pull out as well. Remember back when Afghanistan agreed to everything the US wanted, including turning over Bin Laden with the single exception that Bin Laden is imprisoned in a muslum country? Sounded like a great offer to both sides. Instead of accepting it, the US bombed the snot out of Afghanistan and still hasn't found what they were looking for (Bin Laden). I honestly think the US will pull out of the UN terms as well. Iraq will comply fairly well, but not do 100% exactly the way the US wants. Then the US will bomb them, and never find what they are looking for (weapons of mass distruction).
