God you are so right, those rank right up there with "I will not raise taxes on the middle class to pay for these programs." or "It depends on what the meaning of the words 'is' is." or "We'll seek to raise the average goal for automakers to 45 miles per gallon." or "Middle-class taxpayers will have a choice between a children's tax credit or a significant reduction in their income tax rate." or "I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky." Last is my favorite since it is an out right LIE the rest are just broken promises, but you guys only care about broken promises when a Republican makes them.

Can we try Hillary next? :)

Hmm. Let's make the distinction here, shall we? You have 2 options.

1) Clinton may have lied. Ok, money was wasted, along with some man-yoghurt on a skirt.

2) Bush HAS lied. American lives, and more money than Clinton could have possibly used in a few presidencies has been wasted on a conflict which will continue to cost your country money for the next, oh, 5 years minimum. Also, a country has been completely ripped apart, and TENS OF THOUSANDS of civilian casualties have been been created. Oh, yes, also, the military infastructure is failing on a daily basis. ALLLLLSO, a U.S. City has been nearly obliterated, and thousands are still homeless due to the indecision and impotency of the Administration.

Option 1? Or Option 2? You can't HONESTLY tell me you'd prefer option two under any circumstances.

Except for the fact that Clinton was PROVEN to have lied. Claiming that Bush lied is just an allegation and not FACT like it is with Clinton. Why can't you libs get that through your thick skulls?

It doesn't occur to the Iranians that Pepsi (the name and brand) has been around for decades before Israel was even a nation?

The Isrealis are to Iran as the Terrorists are to the US. Just the latest boogeyman with which to manipulate the populace.

The difference is that terrorist did strike on US soil, while Israel hasn't launched any attack against Iran, or done anything to Iranians that would justify all the attention given.

That said, there does seem to be a boogeyman aspect to how politicians address concerns regarding terrorism.

Pepsi and Coke are not found inside Iran.
Sanctions

Neither are Mcdonalds.

99.9% of the Iranians have probably never had Pepsi or Coke and have no way of buying it.

So I have no idea why the head-of-states would try to spread propaganda to the population over something they have no access to.

Or, we could state, "read my lips, (k)no(w) new taxes"

Politicians (liberal or conservative) make statements and promises and obfuscate the issues with wordplay all the time to further their agendas. "Liberals" do it and so do "Conservatives". Your pandering to your own party with blind obedience is as ridiculous as dave's is to his. The Liberals are wrong with some of their approaches and so are the Conservatives. They are also both right sometimes. Why are slamming each other with domestic pseudo-ideological sandbox insults when we should be discussing Iranian propaganda?

The Iranian propaganda has nothing to do with Bush's more ridiculous utterances so why bring personal atacks onto the President into it? It also has nothing to do with Clinton's slick use of verbage so why bring him into it? Sigh ... nevermind I had a moment of idealistic hope that blinders from both sides would be removed ... I am sorry for interrupting this ego fest.

Please, folks, cut the Bush/Clinton crap, we've had more than enough of these two bozos in many other threads... this one discusses Iranian/Middle Eastern rumours and propaganda regarding Western products of mass consumption.

You guys amaze me. Tommywishbone posts a bunch of quotes trying to compare what Iran says and does with what Bush has said. I respond with a bunch of Clinton lies and broken promises as a way to show the stupidity to tommy's post. And as if on cue you respond with attacks on me and excuses for Clinton's comments.

Do you not understand sarcasm??! Tommy's post was utter BS, my post was just utter BS sent back at him. As Michaelpatrick said, Iranian propaganda has nothing to do with Bush, Clinton or any other American President.

And Horus what is with this line "1) Clinton may have lied." ?
Can you not even admit to yourself that Clinton lied? Why do you have to insert "may have" into that statement? Let me refresh your memory.
Jan 21, 1998 "There is not a sexual relationship. That is accurate. " & "Well, I think you know what it means. It means that there is not a sexual relationship, an improper sexual relationship, or any other kind of improper relationship. " & "I did not urge -- I did not urge anyone to say anything that was untrue. I did not urge anyone to say anything that was untrue. That's my statement to you. "

Jan 26, 1998 "I want to say one thing to the American people. I want you to listen to me. I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky," & "I never told anybody to lie, not a single time. Never. These allegations are false. And I need to go back to work,"

Aug. 17, 1998 "Indeed, I did have a relationship with Miss Lewinsky that was not appropriate. In fact, it was wrong. It constituted a critical lapse in judgment and a personal failure on my part for which I am solely and completely responsible. "
I think we can eliminate any "may have" from the Clinton lied statements.
