God bless them, I say. Its too bad the operation failed-it was high risk, having never been successfully done before. I probably would have made the same decision had I been in their place and will not criticize their decision or quibble as to what a normal life is.

Hopefully at least medical science was advanced by what they learned in this operation.

werd. This is very sad. :(

"BTW, 0roo0roo...the girl from the drunk driving accident in your sig is now living here in my town."

Conjur, I have never seen that story before. It breaks my heart. Such a beautiful lady (though it wouldn't matter otherwise). . . . Sad, sad. I am and have been of the strong opinion that drunkards who drive and kill someone should be tried for second degree murder. I understand why the law is lax at the moment. However, I don't think someone has to have malice or premeditation (as defined for first degree murder) to have committed voluntary manslaughter or second degree murder. You know before you pick up a drink (in excess) and decide to drive what risks you put other lives in. You know this but drink to the point of drunkenness anyway. By so doing you're implicitly willfully committing and having intent to commit murder. You deserve at least 20 years in prison. I hope there was civil litigation too. Every penny he ever made would have to go into her trust fund. Too bad it probably didn't end this way or the bill is just so astronomical so his income could never help significantly. Sad, sad. I cannot believe that this guy got only seven years! Hello? If only the punishment were tougher, just maybe people would think twice.

These deaths are very saddening. To have both daughters die at once would be overwhelming. :(

Apparently the father, who wouldn't stop the women from having the surgery, believes they were "Killed" by the surgeon who 'shouldn't have done it in the first place'. Other specialists turned down the operation, and one deemed it "impossible" to do even as teens.

A major medical moral debate revolves around this case, but either way, its very very saddening to lose them both. :(

sad, but also expected. the chances of them surviving that procedure were slim, and everyone knew it. hopefully the doctors were able to learn from the operation and can use their new knowledge towards helping other conjoined twins, so the iranians' deaths won't be in vain.
