Yes, I feel really sorry for the girl, and angry at the judge who sentenced her. But I can see the bigger picture too, that it's not some Iranian villager's fault she was sentenced, but rather the fault of some hard liner religious nuts in power.

Yes, I feel really sorry for the girl, and angry at the judge who sentenced her. But I can see the bigger picture too, that it's not some Iranian villager's fault she was sentenced, but rather the fault of some hard liner religious nuts in power.

How does what work? You don't have any intermarried people in your family? If you have been here for a long time I'm sure you do. One of my dads cousins married to a Asian from China originally. So I have a Chinese aunt does that make me Chinese and from China?

I may support Israeli and Indian policies sometimes but that doesn't make me either a Jew or a Hindu, Sikh or Buddhist.

Edit: By intermarried I mean inter ethnic marraiges.

If you read around, this type of thing is common in these countries. Rape victims, maybe not in this specific case, are punished more often than the rapists. Even in this case, they are punishing a rape victim because she defended herself.

I still think the thread title is very misleading. Many Americans are convicted of murder although they claim to have been acting in self-defense, and sometimes they get the death penalty.
