These sorts of things happen very often, and its not just the government.

Its the culture.

Its not just the people in power who are the crazies.

Islam is a cult, maybe it wasn't meant to be but the majority of world wide muslims by civil society
standards would be considered radical.

We at least have the exigent circumstance for immediate invasion of Iran: To save the people of Iran from themselves and give the ones we don't extinguish during the invasion freedom from such barbaric measures as provided by the thread start. We will set up a government designed to insure human rights are provided by each and every survivor.
The US and the US alone - well along with its brother believers - have direct interface with God himself which mandates us to pontificate to the entire world.
Maybe, just maybe their God said to do what they do and maybe just maybe their God is God and ours ain't. Maybe.. no?
