Looks like war with Iran is imminent.

Oil prices already jumping fast.

40% of the worlds oil goes through this strait.

Awesome way to start off 2012

1-3-2012

Iran will take action if a U.S. aircraft carrier which left the area because of Iranian naval exercises returns to the Gulf, the state news agency quoted army chief Ataollah Salehi as saying on Tuesday.

"Iran will not repeat its warning ... the enemy's carrier has been moved to the Sea of Oman because of our drill. I recommend and emphasize to the American carrier not to return to the Persian Gulf," Salehi told IRNA.

"I advise, recommend and warn them (the Americans) over the return of this carrier to the Persian Gulf because we are not in the habit of warning more than once," the semi-official Fars news agency quoted Salehi as saying.

here's a list of their "navy"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_ships_of_the_Iranian_Navy

if you think they can even go toe to toe with a CBG... you have no idea what a CBG is capable of.

U.S. Navy carrier strike groups typically consist of an aircraft carrier (flagship), an embarked carrier air wing, at least one Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser, and a destroyer squadron. As of 2011, Carrier Strike Group Three is composed of the following units:[19]

The JCS battlegroup (or Carrier Strike Group 3, CSG-3) is equipped and trained to work as a forward deployed force providing a deterrent force as well as serving to protect U.S. interests abroad.
The Stennis is the flagship of the battlegroup, and commands the group's air wing Carrier Air Wing 9. The Stennis is also home to the commander of Destroyer Squadron 21 (DESRON 21).

War is not imminent. Iran will do nothing. Are there really so many suckers? I can understand if you live in Iran you might believe their sh*t (probably not), but somebody outside of Iran, how dumb are you? We know it, Iran knows it, one carrier group could take out all of Iran's navy by itself.

us lies and propaganda in full swing, including blaming iran for 9/11. :D:D:D:D

iran should have a little bit of fun with these baseless threats, right?
you have your normal mental midgets like zane eating it all up!

but don't worry, we'll lie our way into stealing / controlling more of their oil, similar to the 1950's. all wars in the middle east are for oil, afterall. thanks for admitting that, neocon bolton!:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I'm going to assume you aren't American to begin with, judging by your total lack of ability to communicate coherently in the English language.

Are you trying to say Iraq never happened?

P&N did not even exist before Bush declared a false war in Iraq for Weapons of Mass Destruction that did not exist.

It was for the oil just as this stand off with Iran is for the oil.

i know right... they declared it a national holiday the day we pulled our troops out...that doesnt speak for anything rofl....they did NOT want us there.

Obumma.

Obumma, Obumma, Obumma, Obumma.

When Obumma Obumma's, and Obumma Obumma'ed Obumma, Obumma - it's all about Obumma. You can't Obumma, when Obumma Obummas and Obumma'ed!!

On a serious note; how quickly will Obama be criticized for WHATEVER action he takes? The man could herald world peace and some of you will scream and yell bloody murder. Or, he could put the smack down (as some of you have been masturbating to that thought for quite some time now) and you would STILL scream and yell bloody murder.

On a reality note; nothing will happen. The middle men of oil sales will make a crap load due to all this saber rattling, but nothing more will happen.

For Iran to attack a carrier would end their military, and possibly more. They must know this.

Last I checked the US Navy has support facilities in Manama, Bahrain that is the home port for the Navy's 5th Fleet. There has been a Naval presence in the Persian Gulf for quite some time and I don't see this changing anytime soon.

Not that Iran has nukes, but wouldn't just one take the entire battle group out easily?

not that iran has the tech to even hit a moving target... but if they tried.. they'd take out everything else in the gulf, including neighboring countries... even they're not stupid enough to use a nuke.

LOL - nukes. Some of you play WAAAAY too many video games.

Hey, maybe they will strap a nuke to the back of an Iranian, give him some flippers and he'll swim to our fleet.

*Iranian scientists have produced the nation's first nuclear fuel rod, a feat of engineering the West has doubted Tehran capable of, the country's nuclear agency said Sunday.*

*(Reuters) - - Iran announced a nuclear fuel breakthrough and test-fired a new radar-evading medium-range missile in the Gulf on Sunday, moves that could further antagonize the West at a time when Tehran is trying to avert harsh new sanctions on its oil industry.*

One of the biggest problems on this board is that most believe everyone in the ME lives in caves.

In case anybody has lost all logic somewhere along the way, I'll give you a useful tip.

When dealing with issues like this, all you need to do is flip the roles around. What would we do if Iran had an aircraft carrier in the gulf of mexico?

I was pretty young when the first Iraq war happened, so I didn't witness the war propaganda first hand. This last war with iraq though... what a joke. The whole case for war was built around the idea that they were developing WMD and that we were attacking them preemptively to prevent them from attacking... LOL.

How funny is that, that we preempted events that would never happen? And here was are about to do the same thing..

What is the difference though? Iran has China as an ally. China has already said that they would come to the defense of Iran even if it meant WW3.

So, process that for a second. Because when all of you "Bomb iran !!!" people cheer for war, you're doing so without considering any of the consequences of our actions.

LOL, Iran's "Navy" is a joke. The US Navy is larger than the next 13 navies combined. Good luck with this threat, Iran.

Did the CBG leave the gulf as part of a normal rotation? My guess is that they did (I need to read the article) and Iran is trying to make it look like they scared us off.

What is the difference though? Iran has China as an ally. China has already said that they would come to the defense of Iran even if it meant WW3.

Link? This doesn't sound like a great ally to me:

Beijing has cut its imports of Iranian crude by more than half for January and, paying premiums for crude from Russia and Vietnam to replace it.

Some of you guys are taking this too seriously. No war is going to happen. As Londo said, the US Navy has a major base in the Persian Gulf and this isn't going to change due to Iran's threats.
