Iran may be planning an attack on American soil

Taking Iran at its word

There are growing indications that Iran may be planning an attack on American soil. These indicators are not secret -- they appear in speeches, newspaper articles, TV programs, and sermons in Iran by figures linked to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and other government officials. All discuss potential Iranian attacks on the US, which will subsequently lead to its destruction.

A report on May 28 in Al-Sharq Al-Awsat reported that an Iranian intelligence unit has established a center called "The Brigades of the Shahids of the Global Islamic Awakening." The paper claimed it had obtained a tape with a speech by Hassan Abbassi, a Revolutionary Guards intelligence theoretician who teaches at Al-Hussein University. In the tape, Abbassi spoke of Teheran's secret plans, which include "a strategy drawn up for the destruction of Anglo-Saxon civilization."

In order to accomplish this, he explained, "there are 29 sensitive sites in the US and in the West. We have already spied on these sites, and we know how we are going to attack them."

It was reported that the US had expelled two Iranian security guards employed by Teheran's UN offices on June 29, after the mission was repeatedly warned against allowing its guards to videotape bridges, the Statue of Liberty and New York's subway.

This was the third time the Iranians had been caught in activities which could be connected to plans to attack the US.

Abbassi's speech further detailed that "[Iran's] missiles are now ready to strike at their civilization, and as soon as the instructions arrive from Leader [Ali Khamenei], we will launch our missiles at their cities and installations."

In fact, over the past few months Khamenei has been vocal about the impending "destruction of the US." In May he was quoted in the Iranian paper Jomhouri-Ye Eslami as stating that "the world will witness the annihilation of this arrogant regime."

On July 5, in front of a crowd chanting "Woe to the enemy if Khamenei commands me to wage Jihad," Khamenei said: "If someone harms our people and invades our country, we will endanger his interests anywhere in the world."

Other Iranian religious leaders have also called for the destruction of the US.

Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati, secretary-general of the Guardian Council, appeared on Iran's Channel 1 TV on June 4, stating, "Every Muslim and every honorable man who is not a Muslim must stand against the Americans, English, and Israelis and endanger their interests wherever they may be."

When he added "They must not have security," thousands in the audience repeated chants of "Islam is victorious, America will be annihilated."

On June 25, Jannati also led prayers and promised, "Anyone who confronted the revolution, the Imam [Khomeini], and our dedicated people eventually collapsed. America is the last one, and, Allah willing, it will collapse...."

The following week Ayatollah Mohammad Emami-Kashani delivered the Friday sermon live on Channel 1 stating that the US would collapse like Genghis Khan's empire: "I say to you, the American people you will collapse, America will collapse."

"Time-bombs within America" is how Iranian MP Hamid-Reza Katoziyan described Muslims within the US, who could be behind future terrorist attacks on America.

Speaking on Iranian TV channel Jaam-E-Jam 2 on July 27, Katoziyan warned: "The whole group of people belonging to the Arab community and Muslims living in the US are currently, in my opinion, in a special situation. Perhaps they do not walk the streets with weapons in their hands or attach bombs to themselves in order to carry out a suicide operation, but the thought is there."

Just as statements from Iranian religious and political leaders, as well as TV programs, have focused on attacking the US, so has the print media. An editorial in the July 6 edition of the Iranian daily Kayhan, the conservative paper affiliated with Khamenei, issued another warning for the future:

" the White House's 80 years of exclusive rule are likely to become 80 seconds of Hell that will burn to ashes That very day, those who resist [Iran] will be struck from directions they never expected. The heartbeat of the crisis is undoubtedly [dictated by] the hand of Iran."

The report by the 9-11 Commission asks: "September 11 was a day of unprecedented shock The nation was unprepared How can we avoid such tragedy again?"

Taking Iran's threatening words and actions seriously is an important step.

So, what do you think? Roll-back or elimination?

An anti-US country wishing and threatening America's demise? We must be in bizzaro world!

Heh, Jerusalem Post.

Well thankfully with all those troops sitting around in newly colonialized Iraq, with nothing to do and no problems to sort out, we can quickly roll into this pesky evil axis point and regime change, to some masturbatory shock and awe.

It's prudent to keep a close eye on Iran, but my hunch is that Iran won't attack U.S. territory anytime soon. If Iran did attack the U.S., it would be the end of their state for all eternity. If American civilians died in a horrific and unprovoked attack, the gloves would come off.

The U.S. has thousands of nuclear weapons dispersed throughout silos and airbases across N. America and hundreds more in submarines patrolling across the world. Iran would be unable to avoid overwhelming and hellish retaliation if they used WMD against the U.S. And as much as the U.S. has disagreements with its allies over Iraq, I am absolutely sure that NATO would rally around the U.S. were Iran to attack U.S. territory.

I've always thought that America can't take on the whole world... what chance would Iran have? None whatsoever.

And it would be a shame if millions of innocent Iranians paid the price for the actions of their leaders.

Cool 😎 we'll get Iran's Oil then next.

Iraq 51st State

Iran 52nd State

This is why you libs dont get it. This is why your party will fail. We don't want them in the union.

How would you react to these threats? Do nothing?

Iran may try and bring a holy war to this country but all they will get in return is a world of fire.

We wouldn't be worrying about Iran if your boy Carter hadn't been a coward.

Probably wouldnt have had most of our problems...oh..and if you dont know what I am talking about...perhaps you should be getting your education.

So we are a christian nation now? 😀

Iran sound like they are talking....and that is about it 😉 After what happened in Afghanistan, Iran realizes that we would invade as soon as possible and probably not care one bit over "collatoral" damage as we rammed over all their cities....but i see them more in the defensive becaue if you think about it~ a country that doesn't like you forcibly moved in next door so now you talk big to make it seems like you are tougth 😉

doesn't mean we shouldnt' be careful though~

Deja Vu all over again.

Sounds like Bush et al are preparing the US public for a preemptive invasion of Iran.

So why didn't we go after Iran again?

Iran is not something easily handled.
An invasion would surely be Vietnam2, religious motivation, little american supprt in the country, larger military, tons of people.

It isn't a simple invasion as you'd like to think. Their government and military are very structured relative to Iraq's. Also unlike Saddam an unliked dictator, you have the religeous leaders as the rulers. People will blindly die for not only their country, but their whole reason for living and life itself.

Not even considering the fact that iran spends 4 times more on miltary than iraq did. Also they have 70million people. (3 times iraq)

Iran is a whole new beast. An unwinable battle unless you full out disregard geneva convention

Just look at iraq as an example...this would be the most comparible war...minus the VERY important issues stated above.

We don't have enough troops to effectively wage war against Iran, to do so we would need to reinstate the draft...unless all these pro war chickenhawks sign up in droves.

Ah, the neocons here are finally letting their invade/do-not-invade colors show:

For small countries we can beat up, they're 'growing threats' and should be invaded at any moment but for larger, more structured countries (with or without WMDs) they reply "oh, they wouldn't dare attack us" or "we would attack but its an inconvenience to us" and ignore them.

I notice the more conservative members of the forum have yet to post in this thread so I'll assume A) They don't want to be quoted in case something DOES happen contrary to predictions or B) They don't want to give their opinion until the administration gives their opinion first.

Either way, expect me to refer to this thread in the future

Anything to find an excuse to test out that red "NUKE EVERYTHING" button. They've been itching to try it since Bush I, but since he was disposed of in '92 it had to wait.

I expect the name of the war campaign will be changed to "CONVERT OR DIE, DAM*IT!" soon enough (not enough countries involved yet).
