As a card carrying leftie, I think that in a limited way, this Iranian haircut nonsense is absolute great news.
Because it gives the Iranian people just one more extra motivation to give their Mullahs the same ole heave ho they gave their Shah. As a leftie, I can understand that when the USA were the entity that replaced Iranian democracy with a Shah, that we would probably end up with some hostile to the West Government in Iran, we could have gotten a communistic government like in Cuba, but in Iran we just happened to end up with the Mullahs instead.
But still, we all must distinguish between the foreign government we love to hate and the foreign people under the thumb of that government that are very much like you and me.
And when those very same Mullahs are doing everything to alienate the Iranian people and outlive their usefulness, its just one step closer to having a better more US friendly Government in Iran.
The bulk of the Iranian people are just reaching adulthood, while a large part of the population that originally supported the Mullahs died in the Iraq Iran war. The reelection of Ahmadinejad last year cost the Mullahs most of their credibility, today the merchants are on Strike in Iran over new taxes, many of the influential Iranian families had their sons and daughters tortured by the Iranian revolution guard, so this haircut crap is just one more nail in the Mullahs coffins.
And when the Mullahs finally go the way of the Shah, maybe they can take some comfort that some of their jailers wear Mullah approved beards.
