IR Repeater / Extender?

Building our our family room and will have the Media Cabinet not in a location that you can shoot a remote at it. So I need something to take the IR signal and get it to where it needs to be.

I came across these over at Monoprice and they look like they'd work but just want to see if anyone else uses these (or if you'd recommend anything else)

I can put the receiving "eye" by the TV or speakers and the media cabinet is only about 3 feet away but it faces a different direction. With the Monoprice item it looks like I can then have the beam pieces go to 4 items. For me that'd be HTPC, BluRay, and Tuner/receiver (only need 3)

Is there any reason this item wouldn't work? Is this item exactly what I'm looking for? I've never used something like this before so just want to make sure before I order it.

Thanks!

You might look at the Logitech Harmony Smart Control (or the Ultimate if you want the bells and whistles).

The base station is an IR blaster with 2 external ports. The remote is RF so doesn't need to be line of sight. You'd drop the base station in your cabinet and use 1 programmable remote instead of 3.

I was originally going to get the Monoprice blaster, but will most likely go with the Harmony to reduce the number of remotes (as well as allow for custom actions to simplify things for the wife).

Hope this helps.

I already have a harmony 650 remote. I just need a way to get the signal from it to all the devices in a cabinet.
