Asvab score and the real raw scores are very different. I had all 99%. There is some mojo behind the scenes on those tests.
Each category has a percentage out of 70 points, and some half-correct answers for some. Then the two parts for math and two parts for comprehension/reading get meshed into a bell curve/percentile and that's how your ASVAB+AFQT % score is displayed. The other 6 portions of the test (mechanical, electrical, spacial reasoning, etc) determine what job you are best suited for. I wanted electronic technician without telling them, and that's exactly what I got!
While not an ace in any category, I apparently do rank within with the 93rd percentile. I did get a 69 out of 70 on the mechanical portion, and I've barely lifted the hood of my car prior to the test.
