I am unable to solve

Using all five of the pieces shown below, make a new square.

Note: click here and print out the image. Then cut out the pieces and play with them on your desk.

 
jimmyhaha. when I was a kid I had a plastic brain-teaser puzzle that was exactly the same as this, I can't remember the solution, but the printout will be fun at work tomorrow 🙂
