Since the average IQ is 100, half of the population would fall into your lowest category.

average is not the same thing as median.

guess we know which category you'll be in.

It is in this case. IQ scores are normally distributed, which means that the mean and median (and the mode, for that matter) are equal. Thanks for the personal attack, though.

I think the test is pretty unfair because it's skewed towards math/science type people with number patterns and logic, etc. Math and science are my gifts. My brother is creative and musically talented. He's picked up the guitar and drums without ever taking a lesson and is pretty good at both (great drummer .. pretty good guitar player). I'm, by far, "smarter" than my brother, but I can't do the things he does musically.

that's exactly why those tests aren't reliable... plus the time factor isn't taken into consideration.
whenever I'd get tested there were different tests for rational/creative IQs. My creative is way higher than my rational, but taking the online tests you never see that material come up.

Bah. As a teacher of math and science I do exceptionally well on those tests. The rest of you are inferior. You aren't even close to as smart as math/science people. All of you non-science/non-math people should simply be subjected to a life of serving those of us who are. Quit trying to rationalize that "ohhh, the test isn't fair because it had questions with right/wrong answers on it and no questions such as philosphy questions that allowed for a large range of correct answers. :) :p

(Note: for those of you with such a low IQ that you don't realize the :p means I'm kidding, let me spell it out for you: j-u-s-t- -j-o-k-i-n-g!!)
heh.. anyway, I didn't say i don't score perfectly on the online tests, I just said there's no creativity involved :)

Not to brag, but when tested I broke the scale and you are all dumber than me.

Well maybe they should invent an iq test that involves banging on a bongo!!

It sounds like a hard test... imagine the balance needed to pull that off.

I aced the one IQ test I took. 100%

It was the Ignorant Quack version, though. I like to think I'm really smart, so I would probably test 105.

Maybe a few for real - they're out there, and they're more likely to browse tech boards than, say, shoot the sh!t in AOL chatrooms :p I'd guess most are either straight-up lying or got 170+ on one of those laughable online tests which aren't done well, are too short to be accurate even if they were done well, and intentionally inflate scores since they're trying to sell you something.

Yea it's entirely possible considering it's a nerd forum... I'd really hope that people wouldn't lie, because it just skews their truth, making their real score seem less impressive.
I personally don't know anyone who has tested higher than than the 160's.

im considered gifted by my state (was in gifted programs)

i dont know what my IQ was (they never told me and i was so young when i took it that they did not tell me, parents dont know either)

anyway, i believe the minium in the state is 125. I was the highest ranking male in class (GPA wise) in my senior class of over 150 people when i graduated a few months ago.
