IPX/SPX protocol does not install in Windows ME

I just purchased the game NASCAR Heat, (Great game), and was trying to play it over my network. One computer has win98se on it and the other one has Winme. The machine that has Win98se is my main computer, (PIII 550 @825 Asus, P3V4X, 256megs of ram). The other machine is a 633 Celeron II @ 1007, Asus CUSL2-C,128 megs of ram. In order to play over the network, the IPX/SPX protocol is needed, however, whenever I install it on the Winme machine, networking for that machine ceases. If I un-install IPX/SPX then the networking is restored. Anyone know why this happens?? Thanks in advance.

Try waiting for a long time. If that doesn't work, try reinstalling winME while you are in windows then try it again. You have to redo a few things like windows sounds but it wont' change much.

No go obenton, tried your suggestion and it did not work. Come on guys help me if you can, I really want to play this game over my network!!! Thanks in advance.🙂🙂
