<< I do have Windows 98, can you tell me the registry tweaks? >>
Actually, this may do it through the "safety" of Control Panels. Step 6 below is probably the most important for your IPX games:
Configuring the IPX/SPX-compatible Protocol as the Default Protocol:
1. Double-click the Network icon in the Control Panel to display the Network Configuration list.
2. Highlight the ?IPX/SPX-compatible Protocol? or ?IPX/SPX-compatible Protocol -> Your NIC? entry and click the <Properties> button.
3. The IPX/SPX-compatible Protocol Properties screen will now appear. In order to configure the IPX/SPX Protocol as the default protocol, NetBIOS support must be enabled. If NetBIOS support is already enabled, proceed to step #5. If NetBIOS support is not currently enabled, place a check mark next to the ?I want to enable NetBIOS over IPX/SPX? option.
4. Click <OK> to return to the Network Configuration list. Click <OK> again to complete the installation of NetBIOS support for IPX/SPX. Restart the computer when prompted. After the computer has been restarted, return to the IPX/SPX-compatible Protocol Properties screen in the Control Panel?s Network icon.
NOTE: You will be prompted to insert a Windows 95 or Windows 98 CD-ROM (depending on the computer?s operating system) to enable NetBIOS support for IPX/SPX. You must have either the Windows CD, diskettes, or Cabinet files to complete the installation. Do not proceed with the installation until you have confirmed that you have one of these Windows 95/98 installation media available.
5. Once NetBIOS support for IPX/SPX has been enabled, click the ?Advanced? tab in the IPX/SPX-compatible Protocol Properties screen.
6. Place a check mark next to the ?Set this protocol to be the default protocol.? option.
7. Click <OK> to save this change and return to the Network Configuration list. Click <OK> again to return to the Windows desktop.
8. Repeat this procedure for each computer that will participate in the IPX game.
