IPS Panels

I've been looking around for IPS and I haven't really been able to find many. All I know of are the larger Dell, HP, and NEC's. Does anyone know any good IPS monitors that are 22" or bigger (preferably cheap)? Also, how do cheap IPS panels compare to higher quality PVA, MVA or TN's.

Unfortunately you won't find any IPS monitors that qualify as cheap. There's "less expensive" and perhaps even "affordable", but IPS is a premium technology that costs more to build, and will always result in monitors priced well over the likes of TN. As for what monitors to go with, have you tried reading xtknight's LCD thread? I think I saw this question buried in there somewhere.

There's a 22" gateway on clearance for $200 that is an ips panel. I'm not sure where my friend found it this week, probably circuit city/office depot type place.

Go to this site: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/panelsearch.htm

Choose "panel" in the dropdown and search for "IPS." Ignore anything that comes up with "LG.Phillips TN film."

That should be a good starting point.

i have never heard of a single 22in lcd monitor that had an ips panel. they are all tn panels

I'm not sure, I'll ask him tomorrow. He said it was listed in the specs of the monitor so he bought it.

Its the fhd2201, which on the gateway site is tn panel, but his box states s-pva panel. At amazon it is $319, he got it for $199 at circuit city in tulsa.

So... either way it's not an IPS panel?

No it isn't, sorry I had it wrong. But for $199 an s-pva panel is a good 2nd monitor.
