wife got an ipod, and i am dealing with that POS for a while now and here a list while i really thing that ipods SUCK:
1) itunes and quicktime
THIS ALONE gets me going since i MIGHT see that people MIGHT want to use itunes, but why on EARTH do i need quicktime too ?
Since years i try to avoid these kind of software, eg. realplayer, quicktime etc.
Just makes me angry.
2) file system incompatibilty. Well, windows ipod is FAT32, but still why does it not use a normal directory structure with filenames so you COUL just copy songs over from the PC like to another device/drive.....but NO ! Apple must do it different....i mean "different" in a VERY stupid way:
(see below)
3) ipod obviously only lists and sorts tracks according to mp3 tags, filenames do NOT exist.
So...wife has about 3000 tracks right now and 1000 of them dont have a freaking mp3 tag ! YES APPLE, this happens ! MP3s MIGHt not always have an mp3id tag !
So....have to use 3rd part software to convert filename -> mp3id tag so you can see these songs listed in the ipod.
WHY NOT JUST USE NORMAL FILENAMES ?????
4) Huge problems using any 3rd party tools like anapod, ephpod or winamp ml ipod plugin w/ a network drive on wife's laptop(with the tracks on there) and an ipod connected to *my* PC.
Select more than 100 songs and want to copy em over.....winamp crashes once in a while.....ephpod hangs/crashes....anapod just allows ONE song at a time in the trial version. Its "great" if you need to copy THOUSANDS of songs. Idiots - so...if i were to pay $25 for the full version of anapod i dont even KNOW whether it would actually work over the network then since i cant "try" this in the trial.
5) ipod doesnt work at all on wife's laptop after i got a USB2.0 PCMCIA card...just freezes up etc...
Etc..etc.....rant rant.....
How EASY would it be if it would be filesystem compatible and you plug it in and COULD copy songs from and to windows just like i do on a memory card or something ?
NO...oh..because Apple needs to sell their stupid itunes tracks with their stupid software.....because if it would just WORK without any special s/w...well apple might lose some customers buying songs using their itunes store...DUH 🙂
