That's pretty cool. I was disappointed when I read you had to have a Mac.

Anyone seen that iPod comercial with the idiot guy dancing to the music from his iPod? I noticed last night when I saw that commercial the disclaimer at the end of it. When the word iPod comes up on the screen, in tiny letters at the bottom of the screen you can see the words "Don't steal music." LOL! :)

That is neat. Although this thing is about 15 pounds in weight it's the best thing that anybody related to steve jobs has ever made :)

How the hell does this thing work? Can you just imagine the hard drive dying after someone drops it while it's running? :D

I would think it'd be dead after 40 mins of what the guy in the iPod commercial does to it.

But I think I'd like to have one too, looks pretty damn cool :)

It doesn't really weigh 15 pounds, but close!

Anyway among all the other MP3 players at compusa it really stands out as the one to have.

What's the big deal with iPod anyway. It's an overpriced MP3 player. Samsung have had the same product for awhile.

5 gig hard drive on that thing right? Damn, i don't even have 5 gigs worth of songs... maybe 1 gig at the most, but then again i'm not a big music lover, just something to listen to while i work out.

They should have made smaller ones, 1-2 gigs or so for people like me.

The Creatve Nomad has a 6 gig hard drive, is cheaper and has been out for a long time.

it's actually 6.5 ounces, which is less then half a pound. Skoorb, didn't I tell you to work out those wimpy arms? ;):D

The hard drive is very small, so it's hard to break. It also spins down after loading ~20 minutes of music into memory to save batteries, and probably protect it if you drop it. It's still too expensive right now though... I'll wait until Apple releases the real Windows version, it should cost less by then.

And do you have a link to that Samsung player you're talking about?

The creative nomad is the size of a dump truck.

Skoorb, didn't I tell you to work out those wimpy arms?

I was curling 450 lbs at the gym last night. The chicks were going crazy!

I might want one, dunno. My Nomad II with 128 SmartMedia works for me. It's pretty cute looking though.

Sorry it wasn't Samsung. Some other brand I forgot about. It had 5Gig HD anyway. Probably 1.5 years ago.

radio? who needs that?

the thing is a 5 gig mp3 player and is the size of a pack of cigarettes. well, maybe a bit bigger. but the nomad is bigger than my cd player, which is as large as i'll go since it barely fits in a jacket pocket. so, nega nomad. nomad is ugly too.

I don't think a 1GB version would cost less to make... And 5GB is cool because it can also serve as a firewire hard drive.

I'm happy with my MD Walkman, thank you very much. Works well for me, and it seemed like it was the best option at the time. With NetMD right around the corner, maybe more people will catch on as well.

The iPod seems nice, but I don't see why I'd want to have so many files to sort through just to find the right one. I'm guessing it has playlists though to simplify that.
