OK, so ive been trying to help my computer illiterate friend try and put stuff on her new ipod, but since ive never used an ipod before, it took me a few minutes to learn. So far ive easily figured out how to put pics and music on, but the video is p!ssing me off.

I went to apple, and they said to put home videos/non-downloaded videos on it, i need Quicktime pro to convert the videos to the Ipods supported format. Well, im not going to let them milk her for more money (ie, paying for quicktime pro), so does anyone have a similar, or even easier program that will convert regular .wmv's or .mpegs to Ipod's supported video format (for free)???

thanks

I use Videora to put them in iPod format and DVDshrink to rip dvds, its easy but the encoding with Videora takes some time to complete.

Just an update

Nothing has worked yet......it keeps saying the movies i converted arent supported Ipod formats (they at least show up in the library now, but they play just like a music track/ no video)

I find video ipod video conversation easier on a Mac. On the PC, I use quicktime pro. I got no problem converting QT movie trailers on Apple.com to video ipod format.
