depends on your needs. personally, i'd never use the 30gb capacity (i have a mini and i never fill it up), but paying just $40USD more for 26 more gb and a larger screen is tempting.

I bought the nano. Good thing I visited the apple shop...The full sized one maybe a little too big and heavy for my use. Damn, the mac mini and mac book look cool

there has been a review where they throw the nano around and even out a car with it still working. The screen may get scratched up but just get a case to remedy that. It is a flash player so you don't mess up the hard drive if you drop it or run with it.

also, the 5G ipod only gets about 2hours of video playback time. Music lasts for a lot longer. If you are in the market for a video player, you might want to wait for the new ipod. Touchscreen and a dedicated video player (unlike 5G ipod with video capabilities, notice how the official name is not ipod video, 2hours is only good for an episode or two).

As far as durability go, both my ipod nano and ipod 3rd gen ipod (which is essentially ipod video without the video) works great after my dropping them several times. I don't use them with care, and for the 3rd gen I dropped it off onto the road one time when I was cycling around.

ipod is pretty much the perfect size for enough music for average people. 10 hours of battery sounds right.

I make fun of Apple too, but that is just an ignorant statement. They may be overpriced and overhyped, but Apple makes good stuff. Try taking apart a Mac and PC laptop, that alone should convince you that Apple builds stuff well.

To the OP: The nano is flash-based, instead of hard-drive based, and as such will be more resistant to shocks and drops than the video.

I doubt that; he means 14 hrs of playing music.

No no. I think he's saying the 30 gig ipod video gets ~14 hrs playing music. I'm pretty sure they get less than 2 when exclusively used for video.
