I want to buy an mp3 player, but can't decide which to buy. Right now I am looking at the 2 mentioned above. The creative costs 30 bucks more canadian then the Ipod. Any advice recommendations/things I should look out for?

By the way I am a newbie to the portable mp3 player market, I am still using a sony atrac 3 mp3 disc player.

Thanks

EDIT: UPDATE

Went with a 30 gig creative zen M. What a piece of trash, the controls are so sensitive and hard to use, and it just died on me today on the drive to work in my car. the player froze up, like it had a hard drive freeze, it wouldnt let me shut it down even, it just stayed powered on and locked up, and no way to reset it or take out the battery. It stayed locked up for like 4 hours before the battery died. I just packed everything up into the box and am going to return it.

POS made in malaysia.

Anyone recommend me a mp3 player that is actually made in Japan?

Thanks

I love the iPod. no problems at all with it. Plus, many many new cars have a specific jack for the iPod. I have the 5G 60GB one.

Only negative, it scratches easily. get a nice case or screen protector.

I don't have a new car with an Ipod connector :( I am planning on getting an FM trasnmitter. Are there any other better solutions then that?

I'm sorry but I'm going to have to go with the ipod. I used to be one of those people who needed to have the best specs for gadgets. But the convenience of the ipod has have me sold. I gave up my old iriver for one and I would do it again. Plus you get tons of firmware support and lots of accessories to blow money on.

buy an extended warranty if you get the Zen, last I checked Creative had a lousy 90 days instead of a year -- 90 days is a bad idea for a hard-drive based player.

My Zen Xtra was a nice player until the headphone jack went dead.

I got the black 60 gig one on Woot. Unfortunately it doesn't look like there is very good support for it. Otherwise I'm actually really happy with it.

yeah, you need to keep the Zen. Maybe you should take it back and get a new one, but the Zen's video is awesome. And the audio isn't bad either. Besides, you only need to reset your player and it will be good as new. There is a reset hole at the bottom of the player. Just stick the tip of a paper clip in there and whala, it'll work! Zen all the way!

I bought my Zune this last Friday and I'm really loving it. Still working on getting my recorded TV on it but other than that, I'm extremely happy with it.

I especially love being able to use the FM radio to listen to my Sirius. :)

The creative is a POS. My roommate had one and the screen went on him, so he got it repaired, then it died on him, so he returned it. He had nothing but problems with his.

I got a 30 gig Ipod video off CL used a little while ago. It's rock solid and works great with gtkpod in linux.

Uhh...not to be too obvious, but you can turn down the sensitivity. It's just one of those things that you learn as second nature after using it for a couple of hours.

Also, there is reset button at the bottom, so I'm not sure what you're talking about.

BTW, I've had it for 6 months and it has never crashed on me. I've had absolutely no problems with it.

Yeah Creative's MP3 players are sweet. I think this is one of those "user is the problem" problems.
